  2. yeh i looked at that first but the ARC that its from is the 2005 book, same as mine.
  3. About two years ago I built my rear roll hoop out of 1 1/2" medium weight which was to the spec of me ARC 2005 rule book but thinkin about it, and if me maths be rite, its a year or so old!!! So has anything changed? Want to crack on a build the rest of the cage now as per the 2005 spec.
  4. cheers steve will give it ago and let ya no what happens!
  5. kool thanks. will give that a try and think up a way of putting in the start inhibit into my current loom, im open to any ideas!! hint hint!!!
  6. yeh i tried tried the multi meter today with the stick in reverse and a continuity check with each wire and earthed it to the box but didnt get anything. how could i wire in the start inhibit - sounds like a usful thing to have!!
  7. i dont suppose any one knows what all the wires are for on a auto box? kinda only really need to know what one switches the reversing lights. also wen people say 3 speed or 4 speed on a auto box are they including drive? on mine i can select 123 and then drive. Thanks!!!
  8. couldn't agree with jerry more on that one, im in the same boat as him. got coil sprung PAS 3.9 v8 and now auto box in my "series 3" had it 4 years used it about 4 times!
  9. im confused, if the new diff pan is weld on why not just weld up the hole? p.s: sorry, absolutey no idea as to weather they fit each other or not!!!!
  10. when i have needed odd belts i just measure around the pullys and go to hal-frauds or my local motor factors.
  11. I had the same problem on my series, all with standard running gear and turned out the wheel bearing were shagged.
  12. hummmm doesnt seem alot thicker really kinda the same. i just hit google for the link, searched red brake fluid!

  14. My old man has blue brake fluid in his kit car EBC do it. Its high performance stuff as normal fluid boiled up when he did a track day. Might me summat like that just red???
  15. ok then help please! i need to make a new linkage bracket for my kickdown as the normal bracket is no more. That was all removed because it hit the foot well an didnt mach up with the series linkage. So at what point does the throttle start moving the kickdown? does the kick down move simutainiously with the throttle or does the kickdown cable only start moving say at half throttle? Is it possible for someone to have a look at theirs and tell me please???
  16. by the sound of things a manual kickdown sounds like a very bad idea! how tite should the kickdown cable be then? i thought it only took up the tension at full throttle?
  17. on ashcrofts web site they say dont drive with the kickdown cable disconnected. Which end? Is it ok to have the cable lose at the throttle linkage end? Its still connected at the box end and I havnt made a bracket for the other as of yet. (this is for my hybrid S3) Also it was suggested to me of putting the kickdown on a seperate lever in the cab so as i dont have to worry about the hesitation you get of it changing down a gear if i were to boot it up a hill. Worth it?
  18. yeh the attached is very useful thanks, thats the exact bit. will give ashcrofts a tinkle on monday morning just like to do a bit of homework first!
  19. Well thanks for the help all and your right the oil pump be buggered! I had a spare box that was given to me so i raped it for the pump and turns out that too had been broken in exactly the same way! Looks like shopping time! Its the gear on the oil pump, looks like the small lugs on the side have been broken off by the TC from miss alignment. I dont suppose any one know the real name for this doo hicky so I know what to ask about for? Thanks.
  20. colin, Where about u find that picture mate?
  21. Thanks alot to all help so far!
  22. I split the cooler hoses and sure enough no flow out of them, not even a drop and the oil level in the dipstick hasnt budged. This does spell out broken oil pump i know but is there any other possabilites? I did bolt the TC onto the box first and the engine did bolt up the box without too much hassle. Im kinda needing it this weekend so willing to try lots of stuff without having to take the box out. Is the oil pump a box rebuild and lota of hard work? :( :(
  23. Sorry was bed time!! Yeh I bolted it on. Is there any electrical conns that make a difference I would guess at it all being mechanical. Would the prps not being on make a difference, at least one flange would turn?
