  1. It's worth while asking if the weigh bridge has been claibrated recently. We used one on a farm that turned out to be wayyyyy out. Then used on that had been calibrated the week before. Some thing like 150 KG differance between the calibrated and the dodgy one.

    Adrian

its calibrated regularly, used for commercial grain sales - it knows if you are holding a cup of coffee or not.

    :)

  2. dont drive into water unless you know how deep it is

dont cross fast flowing water thats deep

dont drive (single vehicle) somewhere you are likely to have a problem

if you cant stand on it, then its unlikely to take the weight of your vehicle

    always have an escape route

dont drive flat out into a green wall when you havent got a clue whats coming next

dont drive something loud and offensive in the countryside - its not impressive, it hacks everyone off

drive with consideration to other traffic (moose, walkers, tank transporters, atvs, mushroom pickers, large logging trucks)

never drive under the influence of a Finnish dwarf

erm.... ahh... hat, coat, slink out of side door........ :(

in all seriousness, it cant hurt to join a club, meet people, watch, ask, learn :)

  3. interesting to see the Bowyer hydraulic thing - looks like a type R in all by name, expecially amusing as the grumpy pigmy kicked off big time a couple of years ago at the mere mention of the H word :hysterical:

Im not sure how one drum differs in bunching characteristics to another drum winch, I'm a bit slow - I think I'd need drawings to understand that one

  4. What are the T Max copies like?

Like this one ... sounds pretty good?

might be complete poop - but looks like it came from the same chinese factory that makes the Tmax jobbies so could be a bargain? I figured they would be consumable with a short and painful life but they have impressed me with the level of abuse they tolerate

theres one on the left side of mouse

its seems to be reasonably splashproof

mods worth considering: junk the switch box (its carp) and the coily hose (also carp) and hard wire it :)

    hope that helps

  5. Ive did a little bit of wading once and never found a problem with batteries getting wet, they seem happy under a seat, big drain hole, smear of vaseline and bobs ya monkey. If ARB compressors dont like water then maybe think about one of the Tmax double pumpers, they even seem happy to pump water and they hoof reasonable sized tyres up in no time :)

  6. Bang on Bish - costa del Finland, Sexpest is certifiable and marginally suicidal but he knows ice, two of us can pick his scooby up and load it onto a trailer, it weighs bugger all.

I wouldnt like to trundle onto ice with a Landrover (and definately not in this country - its just not cold enough for long enough) unless an adult said it was ok, even then I'd be munching on the seat cover with the doors on one click, the windows open and a clear route out of dodge

  7. nope :)

if you get a chance to see those DVDs Jules do it - it'll make sense then :) I know its horses for courses but personally I think Austin Vinces boys pulled off the perfect long haul trip and still managed to film it with humour and reality, no Kamaz's for the tricky bits, no vacuum packed luxo rations, no luvvy speaches about "the humanity of shooting a bear", no money, no tents, very little hope and most importantly no giving up - grab beers sit and watch em, they're boss films
