  1. IIRC this also applies to Land Rover bodies as they use/used Birmabright which is an alloy?

I have seen some articles in the past which stated that one of these products (not sure which of the two mentioned here) worked better than welding?

    Marc.

whoever wrote that was talking poop Marc - Birmabright welds nicely, as much as I can see a use for magic sticks to give a cheap and relatively robust repair, I'll keep my tig

  2. you can run 2 pumps in tandem and that will give instant backup in the event of one pump failing, personally I'll stick with just the one pump though, if you wanted your leccy one Alan you will need a non return in there to stop the leccy pump being munched and only turn it on when you loose the main pump

self centering with an orbitrol is merely a product of castor - its easy :)

  3. We've found those T max twin jobbies even work after a good dunking - just give'em a second to clear the water out of the line and away they go, the switch box is pants and needs replacing with somehing more robust beforehand though, great bit of kit for the money :)

  4. my system self centres just as nicely as any "normal" car Ive ever driven

as for the "back up" debate, I drove 80kms of forest with no pump at all......... kinda puts paid to the "oh your steering doesnt work with a dead engine/broken pump" marlarky, having said that even if you show someone the steering working with a dead engine they will still go with bloke down the pubs opinion so whats the point

  5. sad to say its been tried before, theft for breaking was a massive industry in the bike world, the only thing that put the pro's off seemed to be fitting either datatag or smartwater, the feds could simply breeze through the breakers stores departments waving a lamp or a scanner and be home in time for cakes - a good number of breakers went to jail and the others got smart and refused to deal with anything hooky (and no, I realise not all bike breakers were bent before anyone spits the dummy). With a Landy based autojumble or sortout it would be even easier for the bronze to scan a heap of stuff in a small area making nice easy collars with the minimum of effort..

Would it work with Landrovers? yep

Would people be prepared to fork out the datatag fees? pass

Would the feds follow it up or do any high vis sweeps and patrols? erm, pass.

They could always rope in the community support brownies (or whatevers being used to replace the police this week  )

  6. ..we try to assemble intelligence about who the main culprits are, where they are sending them, and so on (it's likely there are a limited number of 'specialists' that do the bulk of the thefts).

I think if we're just passive, they'll 'farm' us.

more likely its nice British thieves feeding off thier countrymen because people want bargains and a fair few are prepared to "forget" to ask questions when something they need or want turns up for the right price..

....the UK is after all the largest market for Landrovers and landrover parts after all

(you can stone me now if you like  )

Whichever ways its cut - its a s**t deal for those that have lost thier pride and joy :angry2:

  7. I did a basic first aid course and then work sent me off for an industrial injuries course (lots of embedded and mashed up stuff) which has proved very very handy

IMHO any training is better than none, its kinda scary when theres no breathing going on and you cant find a pulse

we carry a reasonable first aid kit in a pelicase, the stock boxes are a waste of time and the kits useless if its been dunked, we supplement the kit with a leatherman, liquid skin, superglue and gaffer tape :)

hardly exhaustive but Im not a doctor and never will be one (I am a keen amateur gynaecologist though)
