    XXVII Pomerania 27th edition of ‘Pomerania’ – Off-Road Orienteering Adventures.

    Time of the event : 01 – 03 May 2009

    Area of the event: North-Western Poland / in Lobez area /

    The base of the event: village Słonowice

    Registration of participants on 30.04.2009 between 5.00 - 12.00 p.m., and 01.05 from 5.00 to 9.00 a.m.

    Beginning / start to the route / - 01.05.2009: from 6.30 am to 7.30 am – group A1

    from 7.00am to 9.00 am – group T

    from 8.00am to 8.30am – group A2

    The end of the event and closing ceremony – 03.05.2009. approx. 11.00 am. in Pomerania base.

    Starting groups:

    1. T group – touristic group for all factory vehicles with original body /acceptable of cutting mudguards and missing original bumpers / equipped with wheels in size to 32 inches inclusive.

    Requirement 32 inches doesn't concern: Land Rover 130, Land Rover 101, Volvo, Pinzgauer and other with wheel size more than 32 inches as a factory dimension

    2. A1 group: all kind of vehicles with factory body but on wheels size more than 32 inches and all others vehicles rebuilt on wheels size to 32 inches inclusive.

    3. A2 group: Any rebuilt vehicles, non - factory body, non-factory chassis, tyres above 32 in (except for bigger by factory default, e.g.: Volvo, LR 110, etc.). vehicles such as Tomcat, Scorpion, Dakar, etc.

    In case of any dispute the organiser’s decision is final.

    Classification is organised separately for A and T group.

    Short description of XXVII Pomerania:

    As it was in case of the previous edition, XXVII Pomerania is going to be a simulation of an expedition. That means, the whole route has to be covered continuously with nights spent on the way.

    The competitors drive according to road book, occasionally a map, and indicated routes. On the route you will have to tackle a range of:

    ST special tasks - (e.g. water tasks, applying rope techniques, bridge, swamp crossing, etc.) that will

    be assessed by a referee

    PK, SPK check points – code numbers hidden on the route that you have to spot

    OS special sections – voluntary, for more experienced participants, assessed by a referee; on some of

    them your time will be measured.

    The route in total is ca 300 km long. The time and the distance results of the drive does not have a significant influence on classification

    It is how many points you collect, not how fast you go that counts!

    Minimal off road equipment:

    For all: off road tires, towline, shackles, shovel.

    A1 and A2 group: besides the above the recommended equipment consists of: Hi Lift jack, sand plates / ladders and obligatorily a winch!

    We recommend you have your own camping, climbing and water equipment – it will earn special bonus for your team.

    All vehicles must be registered and insured.

    Accommodation: camping site / own camp equipment is necessary / or on request in the guest house or cabin.

    Food: self catering.

    Price of participation: group T: 1200 PLN per car / crew max. 3 persons

    group A1: 1300 PLN per car/ crew max 3 persons

    group A2: 1450 PLN per car / crew max 3 persons

    Payment in PLN or equivalent in Euro.

    Our fee does not include your accommodation in the guests house, cabin and hotel, meals and vehicle costs.

    Booking is necessary.

    Our events are organized for all types of 4x4 vehicles.

    All routes we use are legal, and researched by us.

    Participants are entirely responsible for their vehicles and personal effects whilst on the event.

    Organizer will be exempt from all liability in respect of loss, damage, sickness, injury or death howsoever caused occurring to persons or vehicles whilst on the event.

    As a guide, these are the average costs of hotels, meals and fuel:

    Hotel : from 70PLN to 280 PLN p.p.d

    Meals: breakfast - 40 PLN, lunch - 40 PLN, dinner - 100 PLN

    fuel: un lead petrol – 4.50PLN/1litre, diesel – 4.25PLN/1litre, LPG – 2.2 PLN/1litre

    for the record we dont do extreme - experts have told us Ladoga is "just driving round a stinking little puddle"

  4. I've never known anyone compete in an auto and then want to go back to a manual afterwards.

    I did :P

    theres pro's and cons to both arguements but on balance I went back to manual because autos make lovely ornaments when nasty things get inside them. Manuals keep functioning even full of slurry.

    torque control, heat management, combat survivability - for what I do manuals thump autos everytime.

  5. yes - you need the washers unless the flywheels been skimmed, an accurate 1mm is important

    CPE will mod your flywheel Isuzu flywheel if you want to run a landrover friction and cover plate (cheaper in the long run)

    no quick fix Im afraid - pull it out. For advice CPE is a good guy to talk to.

  6. I know of some competitors who I think would kill their granny in order to win a plastic pot!

    Not driving fast would not even enter their heads!

    Nor would loosing 10 minutes in order to do a rough safety check even be conceivable for then to imagine without a schizo attack!

    This needs to be stopped!!!!!

    theres an easy way of sorting that...

    take them to a morgue for a tour - see how important that bit of plastic becomes then

    when we race the cars are fitted with sat-trackers at scrutineering, now I know its only the backward Russians and not really as advanced as the West but for certain sections there are speed limits - exceed them and get pinged and penalised, deviate from course or tell porkies about where you've been and you're busted, not sure if they would work here but they certainly work there. :)

  7. Julian, just to put it into perspective Im not being argumentative - merely enjoying the debate :P

    so in that vein...

    what you are effectively asking for is regulation to prevent stupidity?

    Anyone can drive a road going vehicle (any vehicle from a Ferrari to a Fastrac) down a country lane too fast for the conditions, why dont they? because its dumb and experience has taught them to drive at a speed appropriate to the road (ok there are muppets that just wont learn)... but by intimation you are suggesting that because its a comp its forgivable for competitors to drive like a prat?

    How about people taking personal responsibility for thier actions, using comps as an excuse leaves them looking like weeners

    Rural Russia would allow you to get away with murder yet we make sure the car is fit to drive as soon as we hit end of a transit or special stage, why? because the roads are scary enough without having to deal with a damaged car :lol:

    yep its tempting to floor it and not get an overclock but whats the point? its a comp - no ones going to die if Im late, but someone may die if Im that desperate for a plastic cup..

    time for a little perspective? :P

  8. whats tricky about making a comp truck handle roadwork? Ive never quite understood that - I'm not under the illusion a comp truck is going to handle like a sports car but neither does a 7.5 tonne truck (yet they still drive safely down the highway), 40's and and a leary motor doesnt mean sasuage if you've built a squid on acid thats only capable of 25mph :lol:

    In my opinion if someones dumb enough to knowingly take to the road with fubar'd brakes rather than than hitch a lift, fix the problem or carry repair gear they qualify as f***tards - I dont get why an organiser should be responsible for an act of wanton stupidity, do people really value plastic cups more than life? wierd... :blink:

    by doing that you guys would exclude yourselves from international comps that require race vehicles to be classed/vaguely classed as "road legal" in thier country of origin or is it be ok as long as you are breaking the law in another country?

    ..alternatively just compete in standard vehicle or tourist classes?

    why not raise the bar and simply build better engineered cars? ensure that scrutineering knocks back sheds, taking responsibility and ensuring the fabled ripped brake line is looked for before a comp car does a road section (please tell me these drivers notice something as minor as a fubar'd brake system, surely they are not that dumb?)

    I guess that following the road car/comp car logic to its most extreme conclusion there is no reason for anyone other than businesses to own a 4x4 at all, how far would you like the media government to go before you make a stand?

  10. Albert at SS Europe gets my vote, good egg. He also will do a pallet delivered to the UK for less pennies than it takes to get there to pick them up, let alone get back again :)

    Boggers will shift scenery backwards regardless of pressure - if you apply enough "encouragement" ;)

  11. What i have wondered for years is how do harley motor bikes get away with it . Their bikes are really noisey out of the factory never mind when they have been played with . And the police or nobady says anything about them

    thats easy - you build pipes that sound goooood, and the volume becomes incidental :lol:

    The rule we always applied was "if it makes old men and young boys smile then its right" that way the dibble wouldnt give us any hassle at all :)
