oh dear, all of this sounds expensive and dificult to do.. is there any way for me to clear the fault codes and just replace each sensor one by one or something? or how can i splice an obd plug into it? cheers again! CURLY

i found a round plug under the a trim, but thought it was nothing.. the garagr didn't have the correct plug for it either. if it is that one, where can i buy one from? thanks for your help by the way, much appreciated! just want to get the fault found so i can use the dam thing!! CURLY

dont have one of those obd plugs anywhere! what do the others look like? cheers Curly

hi there, i have a 300 tdi disco auto import and the check engine light hasd come on and its started going really REALLY slow.. (limp home mode?) i cant find the diagnostics plug anywhere!? does it even have one? how would i check for faults if it didn't have a diagnostics hole? HELP ME PLEASE!! Cheers, SAm

do you mean the temp sender in the head? if i just unplug the vacuum hose on the egr will that stop it working and just leave the temp sender unplugged too? CURLY

still got a dam coolant leak from somewhere.. i see in the how to, you mentioned a core plug. what is that and where is it? Cheers, CURLY

it lives!!! did the P gasket, put it all back together and it fired straight up bless! one more thing.. whats the temp sensor in the head for? cos its not plugged in and it still reads on the temp guage from the little one in the thermostat housing..

oh i read ya.. i tried turning it over for a while yesterday, but nothing.. just taken the water pump off to get to the P gasket, but i cant see where it goes! what else do i need to take off in order to get to the P gasket? how do i test if the glow plugs are working?

i have just put a recon head on my 300 tdi and its all up and ready to be started.. oil is in, water is in, but leaking out of the P gasket, (but i'll sort that today..) do i need to run through a sequence before starting it again after all the work was done? i've never owned a diesel before.. i have tried pumping the diesel through with the lift pump, but the lever feels all floppy and like its not doing anything.. is that normal? how do i check the glow plugs? and there's a single wire coming from a small bolt on the fuel pump that has been removed, and another piece of wire put in its place, but it goes nowhere..?? i'm assuming that its the fuel shut of solanoid? to many wires and stuff all over the place!!! HELP!!!

hi Frida!, its sam, i got the 300 tdi head from you, then the injectors, then the head locating collet things etc etc, all together now, just need some oil, a turbo hose ~(cos it was split)~ and a bit of luck! thanks for all your help and knowledge! Sam

Hi, I have a disco 300 tdi and need new injectors. The ones I have are the fly by wire ones with one of them being instrumented, (it's got a wire coming out the side with a plug on it) 2 questions, 1: can they be refurbished? 2: Or does anyone have a set forsale? The wire is coming out, and I think it's had it.. Curly

thought so! i hate those EGR valves, i had one on my petrol vectra and it buggered up the inlet manifold flap valves and cost me a fortune! i have just been reading through the RAVE cd and found the correct procedure for choosing the head gasket, so i'll have to do that. if i am scraping the top of the block, how can i stop the carp falling down the holes? and what if a bit goes down them? will it bugger the engine or just go in the filter? i'm new to all this incase you hadn't guessed! does anyone have a 'how to replace the cylinder head' thread? CURLY

hi there, just got a 300tdi disco with a head gasket gone on it, had the head skimmed this morning and they had to skim off 40 thou. are the valves going to hit the pistons now? that seems an awful lot of meat to take off!! I have read on here that the head gaskets come in different thicknesses? spose i'll need the thickest one will i? and the inlet manifold is full of sooty black sludge. is this from the egr valve? cheers in advance!
