  1. No idea what make it is. Now I know it should be adjustable I shall try a bit harder. Thanks fella's
  2. I have replaced my standard 90 door mirror with a military wolf one so that it improves the rearward vision during towing (which I do a lot of). It does the job, but the tension on the spring is not enough to stop it folding back under speed and in wind. It appears as though the tension can be adjusted but when I try it won't budge. Thought I'd check before I apply the usual brute force and ignorance. It is a new mirror so it shouldn't be seized. Can the tension be adjusted?
  3. Whats the weight of the LT 230 transfer box? Thought it would say in the manual but I can't see it.
  4. I am thinking about fitting it after the turbo. I realise the temp will be lower, but surely it should be a direct relation to the temp in the manifold. If I can allow for that then perhaps it will be OK there. The reason I am thinking of doing it this way is cos the manifold has never been off so I am not likely to be able to get it off and back on again. Plus to pay some-one to do it is gonna cost me. Does anybody know what the temp difference would be??
  5. I've just had some cooper Discoverers fitted too, although mine are the slightly less agressive ST's. I have another set of proper muds and I needed some with more road bias too for when I am not mud plugging. I am really liking mine too.
  6. Well it didn't take us that long to get it back out, but it took a bit of head scratching, plus I nearly made the stupid mistake of trying to jack it up and stick the waffles under the wheels. It was stuck in ruts on a steep upwards lane. If I had jacked it up it might well have run me over.
  7. The problem I have found with trying to straddle deep ruts is:- Quite often the lane is never perfectly level and consequently you end up slipping into the ruts. This usually happens after you have already driven so far straddling said ruts. Thus you drop down into deep ruts and sit wheels spinning on your axles/diffs. Out with the shovel, waffle boards, and high lift jack. It happened to me half way up a lane, and my buddy was too far back to be able to simply tow me back out. So beware.
  8. I was told I needed to remove the manifold to make sure none of the swarf (from the hole) ends up in there and consequently it would end up going through the turbo. Now I know that would not be good.
  9. I think I wouldn't be too scared to do a simple drill and tap, its just this is a tapered tap.
  10. I am begining to think this is a bigger job than I can handle. First I need to get the manifold off and I can't see that being a straight forward job. Its never been off while I've had it. Then I need to drill and tap a tapered hole (something I have no experience of). I am thinking I might ask/pay someone (who knows what they are doing) to do it.
  11. But won't the PTFE just melt, with it being on the manifold?
  12. Hi, I have just bought an EGT gauge for my 200tdi 90, and to fit the sensor I need to drill+tap the manifold with 1/8 PT (thats what my instructions say). Is 1/8 PT the same as 1/8 NPT? Also would I need to seal it somehow, and with what? Where abouts on the manifold would be the best place to drill the hole?
