  1. Don't forget the unladen brake requirements for class 7's that is, when both front wheels lock and each of the rear wheels give a minimum of 100kgs the brake performance is met.
  2. As always with VOSA don't hold your breath, it will be coming, not necessarily this year and not necessarily the full whole hog removal, it might be a watered down version to keep sections of the trade happy, who knows...... anyway whats the problem with a class 7 MOT the only difference is the tyre load index, speed ratings, and brake test calculations that use the dgw but do get the benifit of the unladen brake test figs? ok it costs £3.70 more but thats if they charge full wack.
  3. Hi Weights used for MOT are from the VIN plate and relate to DGW Class 4 : Goods vehicles upto 3000Kgs dgw Class 7 : Goods vehicles 3000Kgs upto and including 3500Kgs If its got windows in the sides then it don't matter what the weight is only the seating capacity Class 4: upto 8 passenger seats Class 4: 9-12 passenger seats (private use only) Class 5: 13 or more passenger seats HOWEVER if it is a goods vehicle then it will be a dual purpose vehicle and a class 4 Dual Purpose:Goods vehicles between 3000-3500Kgs Carries passenger and goods/burden of any descripition and All wheel drive (permanent or selectable) Unladen weight less than 2040Kgs ( this has been removed by special notice eventhough its still in the book as they are looking to remove dual purpose alltogether-but don't hold your breath) Couple of links for you Classes: http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/tgs0a000102.htm Dual Purpose: http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/tgs0a000103.htm Hope this helps and is not too confusing
  4. Hi as for the audiable warning issue, I should say that I am a VOSA MOT trainer and just to be doubley sure I have had it confirmed that the statement that I made earlier in the thread is .......correct! Hazard warning lights must have a flashing light indicating that both lamps are working, indicators do not need a flashing lamp but audiable or visual warning and my previous statement stands, did you know that if a on a vehicle you can see the indicators from the drivers seat then no warning device is required in the vehicle at all, I know that its a disco and you can't see the indicators from the drivers seat before you say anything, I'm just making a statement as the question originaly asked about flashing lights for MOT purposes. Just wanted to set the record straight before this got well out of hand
  5. Audiable warning, for MOT: as long as there is a sound that is heard over the background noise of the engine it counts as an audiable warning, so if the relay can be heard then it does count! You could have a tick tock bell gong buzzer beep clang cuckoo clock alarm siren it don't matter, it dont matter what as long as you can hear it.
  6. Clicking relay is audiable, don't have to be a beep or buzzer
  7. Hi as for MOT failure no it don't, the MOT inspection manual says it can be audiable or visual warning for indicators, Hazards though must be a flasshing light
  8. I also had a problem with a TD5 at first the fuel pump sounded like a strangled cat so changed the pump went quiet for a bit then noise started again, engine started to miss same as yours then went to cutting out and poor starting, I did the usual of pipes, filter, filter top, regulator etc but couldn't find anything wrong with them and eventually found that injector seals were u/s, it allows compression gasses back in to the fuel system, got em changed and don't miss a beat now.
  9. An old trick with brake bleeding a series is to jack up the front end as high as you can this removes the air from the master been doing this for 30 years never had a bad pedal yet
