  1. Excellent, thanks guys ;)

its easy, just get the grinder out and cut away, Just dont cut throught the wiring loom! the hard bit is making a tidy job joining up the pannels, ive seen so many that look like Sh!t on ebay.

When I started on my range rover i had no idea how much rust i would find, I ended up replacing both sills, drivers footwell floor pan, and both front wings were rotten, and that was on a 1990 vogue!

  2. using rope to mark out stage like punches work's well, it would be very difficult to get the same amount of quality punches by using only the natural terrain available. Before i dislocated both my shoulders i used to compete in the British enduro championships there was never really a problem with course cutting, sometimes you might get a few people going through the tape because they lost control. There will always be the issue of vehicles sliding into or through the tape by accident, aslong as its only a mistake, you get back to the right side and continue on then i don't think that's a problem but deliberate course cutting is not on.

Maybe a few undercover marshals with binoculars would be a good idea.

  3. I go quite often and never had a problem with him, he's not that bad and there is a lot more worst kept farms/land around. having just done a 400 round trp of wales taking in most lanes on the route there was quite a few sights far more worse.

Around Dolgellau theres a lovely valley ruined by the rubbish dump on the valley floor, some of the propeties were in a far worst mess, some people don't understand that waste disposal in the countryside is a problem for some households. Made worst by the fact a round trip to the tip might take half day and mean a 40 mile round trip.

As for the dogs and sheep seen a lot worse

There is no excuse for littering, its not that hard for them to take the rubbish to the dump on the way to the shops.

Unfortunatly some people just dont give a sh3t about the countryside, and are completely oblivious to the mess the live in.

  4. was up there the other week, remember it quite well as i spent 20 mins on my side in a gulley

yes there was a accident there quite recently, involving a completely std disco and a pillock behind the wheel thinking he could go down a 70 degree slope that is vertical at one point o and not to mention nearly 600ft foot long

its not to go for a day tho <_< you need camp the weekend as i didnt cover 1/3 of the sight

    o beware....make sure you have a ground anchor !! there aint no tree's ;)

and watch the drops, i dropped into a few that jumped out infront of me

what ever you do...dont go down by the house....you will be disgraced at the manner of how he is keeping his dogs :angry: i was very angry...very very infact

    dan

Just dont go there!! Ive been there and i know what your talking about, i will never go there again! Its a dump and the guy has been banned from keeping animals. That site is the kind of thing anti's use to make our sport look bad.

  5. Well done to all those who slogged away at an extremely hot Kirton :D

THe site lived up to its reputation once more with many people spending many hours stuck in the gloop.

    Results are now available

    HERE

Especially well done to Dirty Diesel on his 2nd place and Adrian Turner on his 3rd after a 3.00am arrival after finishing the car.

Thanks for another great event, the Punches were well set out and the quality rather than quantity really works well. Ive still got a big grin on my face :D , i cant beleave the Range rover worked so well considering it was its fist time out!

  6. You could try Rakeway - see ad in All Wheel Driver

They are making my Clevis joints to go on the ends of my ram, i dont get the clevis's untill next week and untill i get the clevis's i cant really work out the lengths of the tie Rod's!! Its going to be tight for round 2.

But ill be there even if i have to weld :o my nice new rose joints to the tie rods!!!!

  7. Ive got to get a the tie rods for my hydro steer on my portals and im using 20mm rose joints either end ive chosen to use a left and a right handed thread on either end so all i got to do is turn the tie rod to addjust the tracking without removing the rose joints.

Obviously i need to ge some 20 mm female threads on either end of the track rod. Ive got a 20mm Right hand tap so its no problem to drill and tap but where do i find a 20mm left hand tap? Is it posible to do on a laithe without a tap?

  8. Well im not to bothered I think that there are better things to worry about, how many of you exceeded the speed limit today?

It is good to know where you stand but most challenge motors are a legal minefield as we now know.

Don’t let your self become swallowed up by this country’s Red tape!

  9. Well im happy now! At lest when I take my Truck in for an MOT in the next few weeks now i know ive not got that to worry about. Hydro Steering is the way forward and i can see more and more people using it on there truck's, We are way behind the USA in off road vehicle design and to have rules restricting use from using hydro would hinder the sport Progressing. Thanks Neil, look for ward to seeing you at Round 2.

  10. I used exacly the same pump you have in the pic when I fitted a 3.5 efi to my 90 about 10yrs ago I had the same problem.

cut off the pump cut the fuel pick up to the correct length and small rubber hose and extended the wires using halford plasic coated conectors and a old bit of wire I had on the garge floor.

I put heat shrink over both sets of conectors and never ever thought about it ever again.

I still have the tank with the pump in it from the 90.

your all making a mind numingly simple job very complex.

Thanks for the help, I just wanted to make sure it would be ok, i think solder and heat shrink is the best option.

Its always better to be safe than sorry!!

  11. No,

Use the TOP half from a carb pump (very long) with the BASE of a HP EFI Pump the 2x together are hugely longer than either of the 2x as std

    Nige :)

I see ill have a look on Ebay and see what i can find, if its not long enough ill just put some wires and conector blocks in a jar of petrol for a few weeks and see what happens!

  12. Rather than extending the pump, why not extend the intake?

I thought about that but the intake on the pump does not look like it can easily be extended. I know the standard wires on the pump are fine in petrol but if i extend the wires will normal electrical connectors and wire will they be ok or do i need special fuel resistant stuff?

if it does melt and I get some sparks in the tank, it will EXPLODE LIKE A BOMB!!!

  13. Okay - the water pump on my 98 4.6HSE Rangie has failed. No drama, its happened before, it'll probably happen again.

But I can't get the viscous nut undone.

    I know its LH thread.

So if I'm standing at the front of the vehicle - I need to move the spanner, from 12o'clock round to 3o'clock ?

    If I'm right - its bl00dy tight :o

Its definitly a LH thread i used a chisel and hammer to get mine off, its difficult to crack the nut sometimes with a spanner when the fan belt has spring in it.

  14. I’ve got an Alloy fuel tank being made and im planning on using the original internal fuel pump to save a few ££, My new fuel tank is deeper than the original tank and the original pump needs to be extended by 150-200mm its easy enough to extend the fuel pipe using a bit of flexible pipe and some jubilee clips and extend the support bracket but ive got to extend the wires.

Will normal automotive wire and connector blocks dissolve  in a petrol tank?

  15. Seal between the gearbox and motor and fit a breather to the motor.

You also need to take the end cap of the motor and seal that to with silicone. if you got a breather fitted to the motor you can blow into the breather and check its not leaking anywhere by spraying the motor in a bit of washing up liquid and some water.

  16. was a little windy were I am, we had 10 tiles off the roof, 3 trees down and a fence panel went through the side of one of the works trucks window. But my Dad and 4 others have a share in a light aircraft thats kept at Old Buckenham airfield; unfortunately the doors on the relatively new hanger blew in and smashed up 3 aircraft including his! Apparently its a write-off.
