  1. Chris, did you drive punch 38, we were first in there and after getting caught up on numerous tree stumps and losing a tire of the bead we lost about an hour

I think it was 38 that we drove in and out with no problems, the tree stumps were not an issue with the portals but it was still tricky manovering over those fallen trees.

  2. Results

That was one hell of a weekend, the event was as always exceptionally well organised by the AWDC team and thanks to Scorpion for feeding us again :)

The night stage was great fun despite getting completely disorientated and lost on numerous occasions, we found Dave Stokes in Darkness with problems with the ecu on his Tedious 5 so we gave him a tow back.

We had loads of fun on the rocks on Sunday, i can’t believe how much we drove without winches and waffles. Iroks and 7psi rock!

  3. Long time no speak Mr Turner hows tricks?

You should have stopped by at the show for a beer or UFO :)

The anchor has been done by me and Si as a joint venture, god there has been over 200 hours put into the design and protyping alone!!!!! We went through 16 varations of boom length, boom angle and blade angle until we were happy with the results,if you measure the angles they are ALL different to any other on the market past or preasent. As regards the materials used we have nothing to hide,no unobtainum or top secret metals used just good old Domex and Clubman 500.I would be more than happy for you to try one @ the next AWDC event if you are up for it???

    Chris

Ive got a Sc^p90n anchor, its a good anchor but the thing is way too heavy at 20Kg, if your new anchor can handle the abuse then i would be interested.

  4. It doesn't, it's the dealer talking bulwarks - pretty sure it'll be the K&N oil killing the hotwire

Silly diseasal things, if you had a proper engine with a MAP sensor none of this would happen

There is no diffrence in power with the AFM disconected.

Ive spoken to JE Eng about the problem with the AFM and they had no idea (they did the first remap and intercooler) I called Allisport and they said it was quite common with the chipped cars, and i asume that the majority who have remaps put a Hi flow oiled air filter on ;)

Why dont they make stuff simple anymore <_<

Next week ill fit a new AFM and Genuine air filter, hopefully that will last more than a few weeks!!

    Thanks for all you Help.

    Chris.

  5. Hmmm, sounds like b*ll*cks to me. I don't know what the construction of the MAF is (anyone got a piccy?) but I'm struggling to see how it could be damaged by air.

One thing I would try is reverting back to a normal air filter to see if the K&N is letting too much carp through (they do let more through than a paper filter), if it does the trick just fit a bigger (EG 110 V8) filter housing and paper filter.

Edit: Of course, forgot the K&N is oiled, what a very bad idea  fit a paper filter or just a non-oily type ;)

Just took the airflow meter off and it looks like new :huh:272223653.jpg

Sorry the picture is not too great, i used my phone.

What’s even more strange, put the airflow meter back on and i thought i would see if the engine would run without it connected :o It did!!, I took it up the road and there were no problems with sudden drops in power. It drove like it had a brand new airflow meter :D !!!!

Will i cause any harm by leaving it disconnected ?

  6. I’ve got problems with my disco eating air flow meters, I’ve put 4 new ones on now in the last 3 months  !!

Apparently it’s because the airflow meter gets damaged with the additional volume created by the Remap, safari snorkel, straight through exhaust, K&N filter, JE eng intercooler, boost pressure controller, and EGR removal kit.

The guys at hunters landrover suggested finding an up rated airflow meter to handle the extra airflow where do i get one of them from?!!

Has anyone else had this problem?

  7. Thanks for the "well done" 's etc :D:D:D . I was gobsmacked when Niel read our names out :o . Normally we have between 1 and 2 hours out due to breakages, only lost 20 minutes early on and we retired 40 mins early due to a problem with bolts having worked loose on the new brakes.

I have done a lot of work on the car over the last few weeks and it has made a big difference. Not so tippy over now as I have dropped it 4 inches on the springs and taken Colins advice on spring strengths (is that the right term)?

Another great event, thanks to the team. I have a new found determination to do Walters now providing the motor survives the Tay!!

Motor in for an MOT today  , wish me luck

Well done Alan, How well did the front locker work before it broke? Was it the alan bolts on the disc's that came loose?

  8. I'm from Hampshire I'll have you know.

Great day, apart from the miserable start. But at least it gave you all something to think about!

Edit: Does anyone know what happened to the Bolts? I assume they must have broken something?

We had a fantastic day, the weather made it even more interesting  Beadlocks and 7psi iroks were amazing on the Rocks, its our best score yet so im happy :D

  9. I’m still working like mad trying to get everything finished, Last night i found that the brand new 100 amp alternator is not charging, not my wiring again!?

I took the sump off last night and moved the breather return pipe so it was well out of the way of the propshaft.

    Still to do!

Extend bottom brackets on the 3 link front suspension arms to stop the axle torque from bending the chassis mounts!

    Wire up Kenlowe

    Change Alternator

    Mount coolant reservoir

    Finish off transmission tunnel

    Adjust cable lockers

    Change rear winch motor

Make a steering guard to protect the ram.

Fit the longer gigglepin trailing arms.

    Mount new fuel tank.

    Etc......................

Nothing like leaving it all to the last minute :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I’ll take it out for a proper test run Thursday night, just to make sure: lol: I’ve got nothing else to do!

  10. vehicles should be secured to traileror transporters by the wheels using these, which have a hook at one end & ratchet head at the other, using 4 [1 on each wheel] will prevent the load moving/coming adrift.

    v05999.JPG

Very true, but if you have slinky suspension and the vehicle rolls about alot, you also need to strap down the body down to the trailer too. If you dont when you do get a snake on having a landy rolling about on the trailer does not help! :o I know

  11. My dear father made his own from two plates and a pinch bolt to adjust the friction, with a piece of steel bar which slid in a bush on the caravan. When not in use it folded sideways along the bumper of the car.

Ive never used one but i know you can get a tow hitch that apply's friction to the tow ball, it grips the ball and helps to reduce snaking. you could also go for a shock adsorber type damper look atdampers

What lenght trailer have you got? Do you tie down your 90 by the wheels or do you pull down the body?

    Chris

  12. 8274 won't fit the bumper... Plus after having seen one being used for recovering a vehicle along with an Ep9, the Ep9 is much more controllable. No where near as much overun. I'm not going to be doing anything too extreme so don't really need a competition speed winch..

Go for the EP9 they are good value for money and in my opinion far better than any Low line Warn winch.

  13. Just noticed that all the l/rover's in the top 5 were all running Gwyn's suspension systerm's, good result for Gwyn! coming away with a 1st,2nd and 3rd, sorry Gwyn i only managed a 5th, i'll try harder next time ;)

There's alot to be said for keeping it simple, Simon Wilkinson has just put one of Gwyn's kits on his truck, i like the way its built, it's clearly worked well for some!! <_<not sure those air shocks are such a great idea  (They look cool anyway :D:D )

Thanks for the CD Simon, I really liked looking through the pictures of the euro Trials, Ive now Got some new ideas for the Rangie!
