  1. Cant be bothered to change them again in 18 months when the chrome has peeled off, there rusted to death and siezed. Bit the bullet and went stainless.

Even managed to changed the nightmare retaining rings for the dust seals without bending them into another shape.

  2. About to rebuild the calipers all round and was wondering which way to go regarding the pistons, either stainless or plated .... bearing in mind stainless are double the price. Anyone got any thoughts about this.

    Cheers.

  3. Hi Streaky

Hows things, was at ards wedding yesterday good grub and free beer ....... what more can you ask for

Anyway have pretty much the same set up as you 764 on the front 762 on the rear, 265x75, caster corrected arms and had bad vibes. I took a d2 front prop and a 200tdi rear prop this cured all vibes in one go. Also gives the advantage of dumping the rubber donut on the rear prop. Thats a three inch lift with no vibes and self centering steering. If you go down this street you will also need the flange from the transfer box for the d2 prop and the rear flange from the 200 diff, you might also need a spacer for the flange on the rear diff. I bought a flange for the rear diff on the softdash and this was long enougth think it depends on what year flange you get hold of.

The d2 is a non greaseable prop so when this eventually dies I'll be on the phone to the propshaft clinic, the one on the range rover came from there, not cheap but a fantastic bit of kit and grease nipples everywhere.

    Have fun.

  4. Can anyone help

Half way through installing the 6th and 7th seats in a disco but seem to of come to a standstill. Has anyone got a picture of the seat when its in its open position especially where there seems to be a bracket on the side. Bit vague I know but any help is much appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Jo

  5. has anyone bought value tool chests from the likes of machine mart, halfords etc etc?

i have a little bit to spend on a big cab but don't want a piece of carp that will fall apart after a year. i want something that might lats a lifetime.

    any ideas?

Gedore ...... not the cheapest but well built. Ive had mine for years and its had horrendous abuse over the years, its even been run over by a daf 95.

Cheap and last a lifetime dont go in the same sentence as far as tool boxes are concerned.

  6. Anyone fitted one of these to a non abs 300tdi, fitted one this weekend and the pipe from the water pump touches the air intake from the snorkel to the air box. The only thing I can think of is that the water pipe is non gen and is slightly longer than a gen one.

  7. Ok today maybe I saw the Stig.

I was in Chesterfield on the A38 about 3 o'clock and there was a guy/girl in a red 2 seater whiched looked like a caterham type thing. What caught my attention was that they had a white crash helmet on and a blacked out visor, wierd or what. If it was me I wouldn't of been wearing a crash helmet especially as it was about 20 degrees and not raining.

    Cheers
