  1. Hi all, I noticed yesterday that my brakes seem a bit funny (it was the first time ive driven the car) that when i applied the brakes for the first time there was plenty of travel in the pedal (about normal travel) , but the second time it would be harder. I thought this could be like a slight loss of pressure or something along those lines, but last nite i started the car on my drive and put my foot on the brake and it made a grinding noise like the ABS kicking in?? the car seems to stop fine, but what could be the cause?? thanks!
  2. Could buy a set, measure all the dimensions then return them?? I was thinking of doing this the other day as I work in a machine shop!
  3. Hi all, Ive noticed that my disco TD5 (on air) is leaning to the passenger side rear but only slightly, and the strange thing is that if i pump the suspension up to off road mode its higher, but still unlevel!!! :S so ive gathered its not a leak, and ive been told the take the ride height sensor off and wiggle it about, I did this and the suspension started coming down as i moved the lever down, so i dont think its this that is the fault, anything else I can try?? thanks for any help!! PS. On the plus side, it passed its MOT today with flying colours!
  4. I think some of them do, There was a set of 17" d3 wheels on ebay the other day with the new BFG MTs on them, and they were pictured on a TD5!!
  5. funny you should ask that! Ive just bought one and am currently looking for goodies! from my research I have found that a D2 2"lift is the same as all other land rovers apparently, so that should be easy to get, except if youve got one with air suspension youll have to get a conversion kit for the back springs. Diff guards are the same as all other LR models so theyre easy too, theres a steering guard for sale on ebay for 79.99 which looks pretty good. As for recovery points I havent found anything on this yet! and snorkels are available through just about everyone really, safari and mantec (and i think southdown) do snorkels for discovery 2's now! check out M and M 4x4 as theyve just started introducing stuff for D2s, such as a lovely front winch bumper. and and 4x4s R Us (or something like that) have just brought out a load of stuff for D2s, such as bumper, rock sliders etc. hope this helps!!!
  6. as above really, i dont want to change the lights for the facelifts as theyre too expensive, so can I fit the bumper without the lights or will it look stupid?? reason im asking is because i can see the facelift lights are bigger so i thought it mite be a different shaped bumper! thanks!
  7. yeahh as above, i found my harmon kardon amp under the passenger seat this weekend while giving the car a good hoover!!! I didnt know what it was at first untill i moved the seat about for a look!
  8. oh sorry! I was just after a rough figure so i guessed it would be ok! sorry again!
  9. Ok thanks for your replies, the reason I want to bodge my bumper for the minute is that 2nd hand bumpers are fetching up to £300 on ebay, and I intend on getting a winch bumper in a few months thanks for your help! and with regards to the chipping, I will bear you in mind, thanks for your advice! I know you said you wont advertise on forums, but could you give me a rough outline on how much it will cost?? thanks!
  10. #1. Hi all, Im considering getting my TD5 Remapped, but after reading the LRO feature about tuning Ive realised you cant remap the early ones, only chip the ECU. Has anyone had this done that can comment on it, and who is the best company to do the job?? How much of a difference does it make? #2. The front bumper of my discovery is pretty well knackered, and Ive seen lots of D2s with a bumper chop (this would eliminate most of the damage), similar to the chop done on 200s and 300s. I have looked at various pics on the internet, but I cant find any info on doing it, like a tutorial or something. anyone know for one, or is it chop it and see?? This is what the idea looks like, 2nd pic down: CLICK HERE!!!! Thanks!!!!
  11. Oh that doesnt sound good :/ Where would I start to find out what it is?? Its been overheated, and Ive just had the engine rebuilt.
  12. As above really, my mileage is flashing and I dont know why, I assume it could be like a service interval thing?? If so anyone know how to reset it?? thanks!
  13. ahh damn, ok thanks for your help!! anyone know of a clear indicator kit for the TD5 disco??
  14. Sorry for posting so many times. My indicator lense on the front of my TD5 is cracked and I would like to put a set of the clear ones on, but I can only find 300tdi ones. I know the headlights of a TD5 fit in a 300, but do the indicators?? thanks!
  15. never mind, turned a few pages and found the bumper, its M&M 4x4 if anyone was interested!! theyve just started doing it
  16. Hi all, Ive been looking into purchasing a nice winch bumper for my new TD5 disco, but I cant find nice ones for the D2. (except for D44 and im not paying that!!!) I know Disco 1s are narrower than D2s, but I found a pic in the new LRO (came today, the one with a TD5 90 on the front) on page 95 (Top right, black disco, T59 RGH numberplate) and the bumper on the front looks narrower, and Ive not seen this design on D2s, only D1s, so does this mean that A D1 bumper will fit on, just will be a bit narrower?? thanks for any help!!
  17. well I had another go today, and theres fuel getting to the rail that feeds the injectors, but not into the engine!! theres no smoke coming out of the exhaust either so its not entering the cylinders. im wondering now whether theres something stopping the injectors, such as immobiliser or something?? ive noticed a few times when locking it, it beeps when it locks, so could it point to the immobiliser kicking in??
  18. Right most of you know about the discovery I bought that had overheated. Ive tried getting it running today, and I have a slight problem, The engine will turn over fine, but it doesnt seem to be getting diesel. I know the common way of checking this is by cracking off an injector, but obviously on a TD5 the injectors are hidden under the rocker cover so this is not an option, what Im beginning to think though is, is there a cut off on a TD5 that may have kicked in?? its had a new fuel pump fitted previous to me buying it, and this kicks in when you put the key in the ignition, stays on for about 30seconds then cuts off. Is this possibly the fault?? thanks for any help!
  19. Ok guys thanks for all your help, Im picking it up in the morning and Ill let you know tomorrow night how it went! I must say Ive only been on here a few days and Im very impressed and very gratefull for the help ive been given, Ive been on some forums and they offer no help at all but you guys have been great!!! thanks again!!
  20. Well seems as I have got a head free with the sale (a new one) It could be worth fitting the new head and gasket to see what it does, because im not really losing money then lol, only having to get someone to time it. and if it goes wrong, Ill go down the new engine route!
  21. Well Ill take it off, and see how bad it is, Ive found a company that takes the vehicle, swaps the engine and brings it back for 1600 quid, with a years warranty. so if its knackered Ill just go down that route!
  22. Ahh brill lads thanks! Ill try jumpleads on it for 10 mins, if it doesnt work ill just tow it on the bumps lol while im talking about it, What should I look for when I remove the head? It over heated and pushed all the water out, the previous owner had it checked and was told the head is knackered, and there is a new head included in the sale. any advice on what to look out for?? thanks again!
  23. Hi all, new on here and need some advice, ive bought a TD5 disco (T plate) with an overheated engine, and its been standing for a few months, so the air has gone out of the suspension, is there any way of pumping it up so that I can tow it home easier?? its only got to go about 2 miles thanks for any help!!!
