  1. ...Think I'll take the same tactic but just order from Paddocks, I can't find a kit on Craddocks! Got the same response from Bearmach, they said they didn't know when the next supply would come through and would probably be a minimum of 4 weeks
  2. Would be interested to hear how you get on, I also emailed Bearmach this morning I'm just hoping they don't quote a ludicrously high price!
  3. So is the ~£40 kit from Paddocks worth avoiding then? Cheers
  4. Thanks keith, I'll go with that kit then
  5. I'm just about to order a timing kit for my 300TDi Defender, are the Dayco belts ok or are there better brands to look out for? Cheers, mr_mcp
  6. Thanks Les! ...Is it really necessary to get the update kit? I've got a 1994 300Tdi on a Defender & I don't know if it's been done?!
  7. Hi, I just realised my timing belt is due for replacement, it's only done about 40K since the last change but it's been more than 5 years. Does anyone have experience of changing one on a 300Tdi? I just wanted to know if it was necessary to take off the radiator or whether you could get access without doing so? Cheers, mr_mcp
  8. Great advice, thanks all. As you say, it's better to be safe than sorry so I opted for a 4.75T shackle which comes with a test cirtificate. CChrs, mr_mcp
  9. OK I'll go with them, thanks gents
  10. Hi, I need to get some shackles for my recovery rope, I have a standard 300tdi Defender 90 - what weight tolerance should I go for? I'm guessing 2 tons would be too weak? Thanks!
  11. lol definitely sounds like the symptoms of a mid life crisis Has anyone replaced the standard horn with a novelty one? Wouldn't mind a super loud horn like those on a cruise ship/lorry! .......perhaps I'm suffering a similar condition?!
  12. haha, love it! Can't seem to find it on the app store though maybe it's only available in the netherlands?? Anyone had any luck getting this?
  13. Another semi-related question.... Is it illegal for the tyres to be exceeding the width of the wheel arches? I am thinking of getting 265/75 on 7" wheels but it sounds like I may need spacers which I guess will make them protrude slightly? Cheers, mr_mcp
  14. owch, ~£100!...worth it though I guess thanks all for replying!
  15. I'm looking to buy a disklok for my defender but I don't have a measuring tape to hand, can someone confirm the size to get (small/large) for a standard wheel please? On a side note, please PM me if your looking to sell one. Thanks! Mr_mcp
  16. Welcome to the forum, I'm new here too and have only made a couple of posts I've just got a 300Tdi 90, my first landy and loving every minute of ownership - I'm sure you'll find the folks on here to be of great help, it's certainly a lot more responsive and knowledgeable than other forums I've visited! Cheers, mr_mcp
  17. Thanks for all the feedback, I tried a heavier oil on the return pedal spring and this seems to have cured the problem!!
  18. Has anyone experienced a squeaky clutch pedal on their defender? I’ve got a 300TDi, not sure if that would make a difference? I originally thought it might be the return spring on the pedal but I’ve coated it with about a litre of WD40 and it’s still as prominent as ever – is there something behind the footwell which could be causing this or has anyone had a similar experience? Cheers, Mr_mcp
  19. Cheers hobson, I cannot see any mounting points in the rear for the benches and it's an M reg (1994). However the benches just have wooden planks over them so I'm not entirely sure whether they'll class as seats??
  20. Without wanting to hijack this thread, does anyone know if you're permitted to take people as passengers on the rear benches (standard side facing) without seatbelts?
  21. Great idea, thanks for the comments...
  22. That makes plenty of sense, thanks for the advice and quick reply mr_mcp
