I had the same problem on my 69 2a, It had Hammerite, Red Oxide primer and blue over spray on them, Peeled off the thickest parts, Chucked them in a bucket of hot water to soften paint up and got all the thick off and then let them dry and just over sprayed them with a black aerosol.. And they look like new for 20 minutes work. But if your taking them off you might aswell re-fit new.. Depends on if your on a budget I suppose..

As per the title really. Last week I bought and removed a 200tdi from a 1994 Discovery with only 93k miles. I bought the ehxuast pipe from the chap on ebay for £70 (Cheeper than steve parker) Also fitted a new clutch, Refitted my 19J engines loom and extended the water temp wire. Also plan to do the cambelt. Have followed the ever so famous guide from this forum I removed the 200TDI from the Disco I bought it from (So I knew where everything went) And thought I had everything but was wrong. The seller helped me out by removing the High Pressure PAS pipe from the pump and lost the bolt!!. So I am left with my Original 19j (2.5td) PAS pipes and a 200TDI PAS pump. So whats the best cause of action to take regarding the matter?. I am going to take it to a hydraulic engineers tomorrow but doubt that they will be able to help. I am basically trying to connect the Original 2.5td pipes to the 200TDI pump but dont have the connector or bolt from the original 200TDI PAS setup Also I am going to get the rubber on the said pipe extended by 10 inches. Will this be ok?. Many thanks in advance.. Matt

Check your fuses in the Fuse box too, Mine always does that and its either a blown fuse or the fuse has a poor connector on it. I know you havent disturbed the fuse box but its worth a try.

I cant help with your problem regarding your Defender... But your Defender is Gorgeous!!!
