  1. Just on the subject of Anderson connectors, will leaving a five meter lead attached to battery and Anderson connector other end cause any damage or battery drain? thanks
  2. Take off the gearbox tunnel and drivers floor (if you wish) clean and spray with penetrating oil and try and free it up. Should come with a bit of wiggling!
  3. If you just want a quick connection use a LPG pigtail hose about £8. If the fitting on the end does not suit just cut it off and use another. If you want more info just do a search on any welding website.
  4. When I investigated further I found that the grub screw in the high low cross shaft was loose therefore it would not engage high or low when i moved lever. A bit of loctite later and I now can engage high and low
  5. Right here goes, had a problem with 200tdi defender going into low range and no diff lock. So I striped off tunnel housing and middle seat box base, linkage was in bad shape and diff lock was cover in gunk. I have since removed linkage and re order some parts and cleaned up diff lock selector and got it moving. My question is can I test high low and diff lock with linkage removed before putting everything back together? Thanks
  6. Thanks for the replies. I haven't fitted it yet. I just really can afford to change things at the moment. I suppose i will have to try it on and see, although the shocks springs and turret mounts are looking very tired. I know i could buy cheap shocks and spring, but I would prefer to save up and buy once and buy right!
  7. I have just bought a new winch and bumper for my defender 90 . My question is do I need to upgrade the suspension now to take the extra weight ? I have searched but cant find the answer I am look yes/no. If I do have to upgrade any recommendation?
  8. If you can use plenty of bond and seal between steel frame and skin. This not only sticks to skin but forms a barrier between metal and aluminum which reacts with each other if left in direct contact. When all is painted give everything a good coat of wax-oil. I also repaired my front doors Good luck with repairs
  9. Hello all, new to this forum. I have seen a few post about rear doors so thought I would post this to give some inspiration. I repaired my rear door which I was told was beyond repair. See photos http://s873.photobucket.com/albums/ab299/landynut_bucket/ if door skin is anyway good door is fixable. Good Luck
  10. yeah as others say remove chrome before you start welding and if you can put a bolt into nut to stop any weld going on to threads. Should work fine.
