  1. How did you Rewire the dash? I have the same problem with both indicators flashing at the same time and led lights.. Can I test to see if it is the dash earth wiring?
  2. Hi, I'm refurbishing my '89 90 v8... As I've been refurbing it I've been tidying the wiring, I have fitted new led nas lights and now I have connected them back up when you indicate both side flash!? Will it be a wiring fault or hazard switch? Then new digital flasher has 3 terminals on it rather than 4, will this effect it?

  4. The chassis loom has been previously cut to fit a new rear crossmember, I was struggling to get 12v so removed all the corroded crimps. I wanted to solder and heat shrink the loom back together, but the wires seemed dirty and wouldn't solder... Is there anyway I could do a better repair or solder the cables after cleaning? Thanks
  5. Hi, I'm rebuilding my defender after its been resprayed. Im looking for rear lights, I looked at led lights hoping they'd be maintanence free and I could fit and forget them. I love the svx clear led look but they're far too expensive, I like the look of the coloured nas style LEDs too. Has anyone got and pics of either clear or coloured rdx light from bolt on bits on their defender? Thanks
  6. When I got it as a truck there was a bigger gap down that side, I just got some sides, roof and rear door. I was hoping to make it right before I get it sprayed, I'll just have to give it a go and see what I have to loosen to make it move. Hopefully it'll not be too hard!
  7. Im doing a bit of a refurb to my 90, I'm converting from a truck can to a van and now up to paint. The problem is the is a big gap between the passenger door and tub, the drivers side is ok. Is it just a case of loosening the large chassis to bulkhead bolt and other bolts on that side of the bulkhead, prying them back and adding washers between the chassis an bulkhead till I get desired gap? Will the wing move back also? Any help, would be great
  8. I need advice again, I'm converting my truck cab to a hard top van style. I need some bolt the fit the sides to the tub, the original land rover ones have a number of washers also included. Can I just use a standard long bolt and some big washers or does it have to be the same style bolt? And does anyone know who can supply these? Thanks
  9. It's really still only gonna be a toy, but I need it so I can get the odd passenger in and the dog. A 5 door maybe a little big for what I want.
  10. I'm thinking of getting rid of my truck cab 90 to get a 3 door disco, seen some nice ones about. I need something a little more family friendly, would this be a good choice?
  11. The 3.5 I have is on a edelbrock 4 barrel carb, I wanna run on LPG. I would like the new engine to be quite quick, and reliable. Not overly complicated and I'm not bothered about economy. If the 3.5 isn't worth swapping I will LPG that, I just read that the carb wouldn't be as good as a efi.
  12. I'm wondering about swapping the 3.5l v8 fOr maybe a 3.9 or 4.2, from what I hear the 4.2 had their fair share of woes? Thanks

  15. Hi again, does anyone know about putting an exhaust up the side of the windscreen? I have a 200Tdi and wanna do something with the exhaust, maybe through the side wheel arch. But I was wondering up the out the side wing vent and up the side of the screen similar to a snorkel? - do u think it'd mess my black soft top roof? Thoughts on this would be appreciated...

  17. Hi, I bought off eBay a 200tdi 90 rolling galvanised chassis and td5 tub and bulkhead... I was going to used this as a base to rebuild my 200tdi 90. But I don't have the original receipt for the chassis, I'd like to keep the original Reg if possible but I'm not too fussed. The chassis on my 90 is nackerd! Even part of the chassis Buber has rotten away aswell as the other 99% of the chassis. Should I cut my losses, sell the galv chassis I bought an buy a brand newie? Bearing in mind the engines bolted in with the dash and electrics :-(
  18. Thanks guys, I have connected alot of the connector blocks that match. I have a few that don't seem to do anything though, there are a couple that I'm not sure of... I'll see what I can do with the diagrams. I'll get some pics up soon too.
  19. Hi, after having my last 90 V8 stolen I'm building a 200tdi soft top with a td5 dash... I carefully disconnected the loom from in the dash an tried to label the wiring, unfortunately this hasn't gone well. I'm not trying to convert to the td5 set up yet I just want to get everything working first. Can anyone tell me where to get a color wiring diagram? I have a Haynes manual but it's a little tricky, any help and I would be very grateful. Thanks Dan
  20. I'm looking to change the 3.5 v8 in my '86 90 to a 3.9efi. I have a serpentine engine, ecu, etc. an also a standard 3.9efi. What is best an why? Thanks
  21. I've got myself a land rover 90 v8 '86, the shockers have gone and so have the busshes... I do spend most of my time on the road, but do like to venture off it to when i can. I havent got a massive budget an need some help,i hear procomp is more like proCRAP and should stay clear. i dont carry much load but i do have a lpg tank in the back, so what springs should i get? if i lift it do i need longer shockers? i know u'll give me the best info...
  22. got home tonight ready to have a look and all seems to be working again as it should.. hopefully it was just a blip and sorted out now, very hopeful i know... if it goes tho now i know what to do, thanks to everyone for their help.

Last night i was driving my defnder to my gf's and the indicators were working fine, a little further and they started to play up... 1st they trailer signal on the dash illuminated when indicting.... (not normal) 2nd the indicators stopped flashing and just stayed on 3rd they started working but flashing very slowly 4th the stopped all together... on the way home this morning the worked slowly again for a little while and the stopped... i checked the fuse and all ok and ideas???
  24. new alternater fitted as we described and works a treat, had to take the aftermarket immobiliser off to tho as that'd gone faulty...
