  1. I just discovered, at the DVLA office, that mine was a CAT C too. I managed to squeeze it in at the local VOSA and it was passed in a matter of minutes. The down side is that the value of the car has depreciated dramatically and that I've had to notify the insurance, who asked for a copy of the MOT. The previous owner, not the garage I bought it from, told me it had been in a bump and had the wing and bumper repaired. She forgot to mention she'd been paid out by the insurance, bought it back and had it repaired, then driven it round for 12 months without a VIC. The guy from the garage was seriously annoyed too because he'd given her a good price in a trade in and she hadn't told him about it. Now he's worried about his reputation but he was really genuine with me when selling it, as it was only in a couple of days. VOSA were cool too and helped me loads, considering I left the country a couple of days after finding out the bad news! If you need anymore info, feel free to drop me a PM.
  2. I got this sorted a couple of days ago. I've driven the car to Montengro and during the last few miles from Croatia, the accelerator pedal went stupidly stiff. I was recommended a garage, who fixed that small problem, and as I tried to leave the car refused to start! A few hours later the solenoid was replaced and the car is running the best it can! I love it!!
  3. Sweet. Where's the earthing straps on these buddy?
  4. My new 300tdi is playing up already. seems to be a lazy starter. I've had new glowplugs fitted and a new battery. This morning it was stone cold dead. I jumped it and left it running for an hour. Went out in it for about 14 miles, turned it off, 2 hours later, lazy starting. Decided to try and take the battery back. Battery was tested. No problems. Two slow swings again before firing up. New battery fitted by the kind shop. One slow swing and it started. I'm wondering if it's the starter motor or something more conspicuous leaking voltage. I've just fitted a new headunit, if that could be it? The problem is I've got a long journey over the next couple of days and could really do without it not starting on the ferry! Any ideas? :-(
  5. I did say in my last post that Frank Pickles aksed if I wanted 12,000 miles and then said they can't do it. I've ended up staying with HIC for now. I wasn't prepared to pay £100 cancellation.
  6. What happened to my post?
  7. You what??!! I would have told them where to shove it
  8. Best be prepared to travel or up your budget buddy!
  9. I'll try Frank Pickles. Still can't believe some of your quotes guys. I've no idea why mine is coming in so high!
  10. Sureterm wouldn't give me a quote as I do more than 9k a year mileage. NFU wanted 600 but forgot to ask about mods. When I mentioned them she had to call me back!... Still waiting for the call. Hastings, Who insure my dad's Td5 for £400, came back with another £800 quid quote...
  11. Got my Discovery 1 yesterday! Lovely motor. Tried to insure it today and I'm getting absolutely stiffed. £800! 39yrs old, no claims, no points, no losses, 10 years NCB. What's all that about? Anyone got any ideas please?
  12. Hey buddy. I'm the same. Just got mine today. R reg, GS though, but mint. Not as prestigious as yours! Needs a service. Only got 25mpg on the way back and I wasn't pushing! Just ordered the gaiters too.... ;-) Wading stuff next!
  13. Morning! Our, seemingly, dry Discovery isn't all that. After last weeks heavy rain, it's started leaking. We've not investigated too far yet but the rear carpet is soaked (it wasn't when we bought it). Water was dripping from the rear air con vents, after the storms. The edge of the roof lining, against the driver's door was wet and when we moved the car, water came out of the passenger seat belt hole from the B pillar! Of course, there were drips from the driver's sun visor too. Ironically, it's been raining again and everything is dry. We're going to mastik the front sunroof seal and try and get the back one open to do the same. Is it possible the drains are blocked or broken? If so how difficult is it to fix them? Water doesn't appear to be leaking from the rear sky lights..... Any ideas guys? Cheers Matt
