  1. hi still putting the 300tdi in my 110, i removed the aircon pump etc, underneath the belt tensioner there is a small pulley with grooves for a belt, is this an idler ? cheers

    im having a bit of a sort out and have the following bits available -series 2a with a knackered engine, rag top with full roll cage and arc log book -v8 engine with auto box and transfer box -disco axles got all the tools and most of the skills and a nice warm garage ready for the autumn/winter so..... i was thinking of putting in the v8 auto into the 2a and fitting the disco axles..... is this feasible? can i get leaf spring mounts to weld onto the disco axles rather than go coil or do i fabricate them? what about spring over? im currently putting a 300 tdi in my 110 and after selling my 90 challenge truck fancy a new toy..... any opinions welcome cheers
  5. spring over axle is common on suzukis etc but not as common on series for some reason, saw one at sodbury a few years ago and it looked the mutts nuts,

  7. are the brackets that are welded on the chassis that hold the rubber engine mounts on a 300 tdi flush with the top of the chasis like on a disco or are they lower down the chasis rail? i have cut off the old mounts on the 110( nissan straight 6) and need to make up new, easiest way seems to make up some plates attach to rubber mounts and lower engine into place, tack in place ,remove engine and strenghten mounts.... sorted??? hope this makes sense??? craig

  11. not sure but think he said a later 300 disco but cant be certain, its the same apart from the diff casing does not go thinner where the side bolts on, havent actually seen it yet but need it sorted as i need a tow.....
  12. hi mate has a 90 which has a blown diff. gave him a 10 spline but he needed 24, he has sourced a 24 spline diff but the diff does not have a thinner section on the side holes so the 4 bolts that hold the sides are not long enough, is it just a case of taking the studs out of the axle and fitting longer ones? are the studs screwed in or pressed? cheers
  13. cut it off and sell it, scrap about 10 quid for 100 kilo so you wont get much if you weigh it in. i would buy it if it was solid and i needed it
  14. been out with the tape measure, i reckon i can live with the sticks further back so gonna give it a go. never know if i dont try......... watch this space.....
  15. so if i move the engine forward as i have to fabricate new mounts would the sticks come out of the tunnel?
  16. yeah and if you read the post you linked to the guy is asking for a definite answer......the same as him i have googled but cant find the answer. i thought the r380 in a defender and disco were the same length , so im confused. cheers
  17. i have a 110 with a 3.3 nissan engine and box in it, the gearbox has a fault, i have a 300tdi disco, so has anyone put the 300tdi complete with disco box into a 90/110? not bothered if the gear and transfer levers wrong way round as long as they work... will have to move mounts as this has already been done to fit nissan lump, not bothered about this side of it just want to know if it will work before i start, any links or guideance appreciated cheers
  18. i have a 300 tdi disco that struggles to start and wont rev properly, i have checked all fuel pipes, cleaned trap under chasis, changed all filters, its got good fuel , changed lift pump.......... im starting to think this is a timing issue? gonna start to strip the belt off but wondering if anyone else has had this and what it was???? really doing my head in now!!!

  21. on my 300 tdi the normal position of the gear stick is between 1st and 2nd not 3rd and 4th like nornal, i assume 3rd and 4th is normal??? anyway i have all the covers off as the diff lock lever needs adjustment, is there any way of adjusting the 2 springs which hold the gear stick in its neutral position? hope this makes sense....... craig
  22. im wondering now if it timing?? was gonna do all the filters etc today but got the hang over from hell........
  23. changed glow plugs but it the same. running rough and dont sound right, sounds like it got a miss? is there a way to check injectors? where the best deal on new/ recon injectors? thanks
  24. thanks for the replies, ill do the glow plugs and fuel filter in the morning, hopefully it will be that simple.... was thinking that it could be the head gasket due to the carp starting and smoke....
