I've taken the 90 into the garage today to have the brakes done. I aksed them about the woosh of air I get when I open the diesel cap. They've just told me it's a problem with the diaphragm (sp?) in the fuel injector and that basically I need a new diaphragm as all the turbo is being sent back into the tank and may make the tank explode. Anyone else experienced this? Will it have meant an increase in fuel consumption and decrease in power?

Perhaps in a former life it was a SW then! At least I'm clear with the DVLA!

A 90 van back and a 90 van with windows

How much would you expect to pay for a respray plus preperation? And can anyone reccomend anyone in the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire area?

2 questions... Numero Uno: I got two new end caps fitted (is this what they're called-the caps that go in the centre of the wheels on the end of the axle..?) a couple of weeks ago. They're cracked and leaking black all over my shiny alloys! I bought a couple more from bearm*** at the weekend. Heated the in hot water and popped them on..only they didn't pop on. Any which way I tried, they just wouldn't click on. Any ideas from anyone? Numero Dos: I fitted a van top over xmas - do I need to notify DVLA/insurers? Do either need notifying of rear seats? (I know that's two questions!!)

Comfy! That was the bit that confused me. Either he's a midget, or anyone who wants to use the passenger seat has to be. It looked to be more than just removing the headrest didn't it!

I saw in this month's LROI that the chap showing the green lanes on the Wirral had a bed in the back of his 90. Has anyone done this? How easy was it to fabricate?

The noise is similar to the annoying, ear banging noise you get when one person opens their window a bit...just there's vibration too!

Yeh, I'm pretty sure the wheels are fine. The guys at ATS had them off and on again to balance them. Sould be no much behind them as I hosed it all thoroughly befroe they were put on!

Hapy New Year to all! I've recently converted my truck cab to hard top. Whilst at the scrap yard, I noticed they had some nice freestyle alloys with even nice BFG All Terrains on them. I don't know the exact sizes etc of the tyres and it's raining at the moment so I'll not be going and looking! The tyres were fitted and I drove the 60 miles back from Telford with them without a problem (although due the lack of rear door at the time, the cold was more of an issue!) I've since noticed that the whole vehicle vibrates/wobbles when accelerating between about 40 and 50. It doesn't matter whether I'm in 4th or 5th at the time. The whole vehicle wobbles. If I'm decelerating from 50 to 40, there's no wobble. I had the wheels balanced on the weekend but it still happens... I believe it could be anything from the transfer box to the diffs to the propshafts... Any other ideas from anyone or am I best taking it into the garage?

I've just bought some hinges for my rear door. What should I coat them in and where do I get it?

Top Thread! I've been having exactly the same problem. I'm so sad that I'll spray the washer fluid just to wet the windscreen so that the wipers stay at the bottom of the screen!

So...£100 fitted for two side windows ain't half bad then! Is doing the paint yourself really a good option?

I'm about to convert my truck cab to a hard-top. The top I get may or may not have windows in it... I've got a couple of queries... 1. What exactly do I need to fit it other than tools, common sense, and 30 nuts&bolts? 2. If I'm having windows fitted, does anyone know whether it's the glass/seals that's more expensive or the cost of actually having the glass fitted? 3. There's no aerial for my radio. Am I best fitting one in the standard place on the wind next to the bonnet or is it simpler to fit on the roof? I'm only asking because I remember fitting an aerial on a mk2 golf and it took ages to get the wheel off and the wheel arch lining out...is it the same with a defender? 4. If I manage to get a top in the wrong colour, how much is it going to cost me (and where?) to get it sprayed the correct colour?

A couple of questions - How long would it take a complete novice to remove a Truck Cab and put on a Hard-top, sides, rear door on a 90? Does anyone know of a dummy's guide anywhere pinpointing exactly what needs doing?

I work a couple of mins away from Bourton Landrovers and they've quoted £100 to fit a pair of non-opening side windows. (Or they'll swap it for my truck cab top!) Any ideas on how much just the windows are?

Perhaps the problem isn't as big as I first thought it was. Two normal roofbars on the gutter should do just fine!
