  1. So I'm 90% through removing the dash on my '94 ES using the dash removal thread on here as a guide. Unfortunately that thread refers to a pre airbag dash. To tell the truth I have got no idea how to remove the passenger side airbag or whether this can be done without risking setting the blasted thing off. Can anyone help? Also, assuming it can be removed, what is a safe (responsible)method of disposal? As ever, all advice gratefully received. Cheers Chris
  2. Thanks for the replies chaps, particlarly the later ones from Big Tim and Andy 2986. When I wrote the above, what I should have written was.....'knowing that I didn't need the aircon compressor, I rather stupidly gave it away'........ so replacement is not any option!!! I'll have a look at the 'turning round the tensioner' idea at the weekend. Cheers Chris
  3. Didn't want to hijac Nige's thead! I have a Disco serp 3.9 ready to go into my RRC. However it currently has the aircon compressor in place which I don't want to use. Will I need to source non-aircon brackets and tensioner or are they the same thing but a shorter belt? Does anyone have a picture of the non-aircon layout as I can't find one on the net. Any help appreciated. Cheers Chris
  4. Hello Ivan, I'm a newbie on here (although I have owned 4 RRCs over the last 20 years) so I wouldn't want to post anything too controvertial. However, from your description, if you lived in the UK, I would advise you to be very wary of a car with the appearance of tampering to the chassis number unless there was a good story to explain it. Living in Belgrade, as you do, I would guess that this is less of a problem. Are you talking about cars that have been imported from other european countries? By the way, none of my RRCs have had a chassis number on the chassis!!! Cheers Chris
  5. Great, thanks for the confirmation. Means I can use my Flamethrower coil Cheers Chris
  6. I apologise for being a needy newbie but I would appreciate some help. I run a '77 3.5, SU Carb, points ignition on petrol or gas. Over the last 6 months, I have been trying to isolate and rectify an intermittent 'conking out' problem. I won't bore you all with the details, suffice to say that I want to move to electronic ignition and to that end I have: Lucas 35D M8 dizzy (oil pump drive added) Lucas remote amp 80428B Lucas 32C5 BYS coil All the above were taken from a '94 Disco Serp 3.9 which was a runner. My question is should I be pumping 12v into the coil or 9 or 6? The last digit of the coil number suggests maybe 5v but maybe that convention is a myth. My current setup has a 12v ignition feed into a 1.6 ohm ballest block and a standard Paddocks coil (which should be 6v) so I have the ability to supply 12 or 6 volts without modifications. Thanks in anticipation. Oh yes, sorry but a secondary question, should the inductive 'gubbins' in the dizzy be under a plastic cover? mine hasn't got one! Cheers Chris
  7. I've had 4 RRCs over the years and I've not found a chassis number on any of them!!! So maybe not so strange Cheers Chris
  8. Thanks for that, I'll have a look there when I get home. Thanks Chris
  9. Hi Guys, Sorry about this but I can't look at Rave 'cos my CD drive is busted and I can't find the answer using the Forum Search function. I'm breaking my old 3.9 ES and I have been asked for the ECU by a mate. Trouble is, I can't locate it! Could some kind person tell me where it should be. (not under the driver's seat). Thanks Chris
  10. If you imagine the cross section of the chassis rail, on the really early ones (maybe the first 2 years or so) the corners of the box had crisp sharp edges as opposed to radius corners.
