Well that is a good enough reason for me, My cigarette lighter socket always ejects my sat nav plug and I have it set to power down on voltage loss due to a failing memory so when the plug ejects the thing just switches off.

Well I wish I could afford both – new and galvanised but sadly I am not a lucky person and can’t remember the last time I had a £10 on the Lottery. Have any of you used Ashtree and if so what is the quality of the items supplied. That is the way I was planning on going but at the price I would like to know how good the end products when it is delivered to the door..........

I am going to replace the bulkhead and am just looking at peoples recommendations – do I spend my hard earned on a repaired galvanised bulkhead or do I buy a new one, there is not much of a price difference. All experiences and recommendations welcome.

Yes that’s the one, why fit one of these rather than a cigarette lighter, are there any benefits?

“O” Well – I take that Discoveries & similar age Range rover don’t have LSD either ?

You know the small flip up lid additional 12v power sockets that you get for your dash.
Smaller the an cigarette lighter --------------- what do you get that plugs into them ?
May be a daft question but I had on in my dash but never found a use for it, could not charge the phone or power the TomTom .

An easy question if you know the answer but then all questions are easy if you know the answer.
Do Land Rover Diffs have LSD ?

I did the above and the results were great, very noticeable improvement in performance.

I have had Pro Comp and found they were good enough for a budget shock but rusted really quickly.
Just bought Terrafirma so will wait and see how they perform and last.

OK thank you for that, I was starting to think I had put something in the wrong place.

Hi again I did fit new bronze bushes when I rebuilt the end, does the stub need to be pulled through as the stub does not come far enough through to get shims on along with the circlip or does this only need to be done when the bushes ware down?
There does not seem to be any play in the shaft as it is but I did not want to force it.
All should be tight as there are new seals, bearings and bushes.

Do you mean the shims at the end of the half shaft where the circlip goes ?
Frax

Probably cos they leak and they cant be bothered fixing the fault.

Well got it swapped over without much problem – striped the other side now so just need to blast & paint, and then rebuild.

Well I know what I will be doing tomorrow now, Thanks for all the replies.
Just hope the new bearing and seals come apart without damage.

Well I was out and had another look, I failed to give you all the details as it turns out which seems to make a difference.
The discs are drilled and grooved and came from ebay which turned out to be Britpart,,,,,,,,,,,
The groves run in different directions – so next question is LH & RH from the driver’s seat or the front of the Defender.
Nothing is easy.

Ye I know that the callipers are but when I put it back together the half shaft struggled to come through far enough to get the circlip on. I did not think that the discs would be and never even looked. Then when I found that one was marked LH it just made me wonder.

Hi I just fitted a brake disc to my axle and rebuilt that end, when I went to fit the other side I noticed that it had LH on it, Help

Well just an update for you all, I ordered M10 X 30 and well they did not fit, Turns out that mine were UNF but being at a loss to find any local I drilled them out and fitted the M10 x 30 with lock nuts.
