That looks like the same as have for the front centre seat of my 90, I have used the 2 existing mounting points with the inertia reel fastened to the bulkhead with a plate to reinforce the bulkhead. Hope this helps.
Chris.
Hi Chris,
I don't suppose you have any photos?

Sweet! Thanks everyone.
I'm going to daub a bit of wax oil on the inside of the wheel arch (where the rivets go through) just to make sure!
-
See a big button and press it!
-
I've just had to drill out some of the rivets from the back of my 110 CSW
I now need replacements, does anyone know if there is a standard size?
Thanks,
Mike

Where did the farmer get his mat from?
I'd be really interested to hear where you get with this, keep posting your results!
I might try Neoprene, it's waterproof and should be fairly hard wearing. I'm also thinking of lining the inside of the seat box out, simply because I think it's acting as a bit of a drum...
Cheers,
Mike

reckon for the front centre the inertia reel & stalk gets fitted same as the front outer seats, are there any fitting instructions with them ? poor show if not.
It did include instructions, but they are "generic". This belt seems to have been designed for the middle of a back seat with only a lap belt.
As you know the belt setup in a 110 CSW is kind of unique!
Thanks,
Mike

Hi All,
I'm looking at my very, very unwell hinges and wondering if I could swap them from one side to the other?
I'm intending on putting a small nylon washer in there whilst I'm at it.
Fundamentally, is it work it? Should I just buy some new ones?
Thanks,
Mike

I could think of easier ways to loose a hand or two...

Hi All,
Without me actually having to remove the seats, does anyone know (off the top of their heads) the distance between the bolts on a defender seat?
Cheers,
Mike

Yeah, I don't want to pay to end the insurance with Direct Line early.
They would insure me with Exmoor trim forward facing load area seats though...
I guess the thing that worried me is that a CSW comes with these seats as standard and they still insured me... Plonkers

Hi All,
Just got off the phone with Direct Line, apparently they don't insure vehicles with bench seats... But they insured my CSW.
Anyone else had this with their insurance company?
Thanks,
Mike

My Defender was made/assembled in South Africa by AAD (before LR took over and imported all parts). Some parts are different, like the chassis is galvanized and the sound proofing is much better. It also came with a VDO rev-counter which is a waste of time on a 300Tdi. But the best improvement was the rear seat which has the backrest at an angle and quite a bit further back than the UK versions here since 1996. The difference is noticeable if you look in the back window you can see the whole backrest whereas in the UK version the backrest is not visible. There are two plates to move the locking catches further back.
I don't suppose you have any photos?

*whole seat, I'm a plonker....

I have the earlier version of these http://www.exmoortri...k.html?sef=hcfp
the extension kit is mentioned on the page above, but not shown, it raise the seat back & moves it rearwards by approx 2 inches, it does not raise the seat cushion/base, if that is made higher your passengers won't have any decent headroom.
Hi Western,
I guess I'm going to have to make something!
I'm not overly worried about the headroom, there is about a foot above anyone but me (I'm 6'10")!
I was thinking about using the space under the seats for storage, has anyone done this?

Do you mean the front or rear centre seat from the Multipla? And, come to that, fitted to the front or rear of the Defender?
Scenic Seats have been done a couple of times (in the rear), I intend to do the same myself. Scenics are relatively common in scrap yards, hence the popularity of the conversion.
Front middle to front middle. I like the idea of being able to remove the hole seat!
I'll have a look at the Scenic!

These are interesting.
But I can't help but the Multipla one is fully integrated (i.e easily removed).
Is there an equivalent?

Hi All,
I was just wondering, are Land Rovers stopped to see if they have Red Diesel more than other cars?
Are there similar dye based restrictions in Europe?
Thanks,
Mike

I've put a tank full of the premium fuel in, particularly BP.
I knew a petrochemist once, she was working on diesel additives and (so she said) essentially, reverse engineering the additive products you've mentioned.
You might be better off giving the old girl a treat and a bit of nice premium! Yum, yum.
BP and Shells diesel definitely make my motors run better and more efficiently!
Additives, it's hard to tell... it's really hard to tell (mainly because I forget to put the stuff in each time)!

Hi All,
I happen to be driving a Fiat Multipla at the moment (Fantastic motor and really cheap, you don't drive it looking at it!).
The middle seat happens to have an integrated seatbelt, has anyone tried to fit one of these to a Defender?
Cheers,
Mike

Hi All,
I was thinking about fitting these forward facing seats from Exmoor trim to a 110:
From the pictures they are fitted right at the back of the load space. Is it possible to fit them "forward a bit" (my wife's request), so we can fit the pushchair in the back! I'm thinking mainly of seat belts.
I'm just lucky she's not going to make me paint the Defender pink!
Cheers,
Mike

Hi All,
I read somewhere that it makes it more comfortable for the passengers if you lift the seats higher!
I think they were doing this to Defender 110 that give Safari tours in Africa
Has anyone done this? Can you buy a kit in the UK.
Cheers,
Mike

Think they are pretty noisy engines in a series....
Yep, that's what I've heard. They are also supposed to be vulnerable to water etc. etc. which is why I want to swap to a TDI!

Hi All,
I was wondering how hard it would be to switch a transit "banana" engine to a 200 or 300 tdi?
I'm guessing it would be fairly easy mechanically, but what about the loom?
Is it actually worth doing?
Thanks!

Oh BTW, I contacted Exmoor trim and they are going to send me the large spreader plate.
They said to ask my MOT chap to see where I should fit them.
