  1. its the slurry washing onto the railway line sidings which is the problem and by letting the site rejuvenate while there is so much water about. the main areas are ok which is why the bikes are still allowed its just the 4x4's going through the big flooded mud runs.

I suggested filling them in and I didn't think there would be any shortage of volunteers to help. I also suggested me being a Civil Eng I would be happy to help with any advice technically as I thought it would be the least I could do as I have been playing there for 15 odd years.

  2. While booking event for this year Ken has asked me to let people know that the site is closed to 4x4's due to damage and he wants to let the ground recover for a few months he will ring round when its open again.

This is not a permanent thing just a little time for the ground to recover.

Bikes are still aloud it just the wooded area which is the issue.

  3. I would just like to add my thanks to the Marshalls for a great day out. Also I would like to say a big thank you to the Marshalls who helped me out of the bog right at the end of the day,

that's the last time I listen to jcwcooper :-)

    dan

laugh.giflaugh.gif you have to admit it was funny.

That was me with the blue 110 and Dan with the camel

  4. I noticed this last week that a lot of 4x4's were off the road still, all BMW X5's! Can't say I'm too bothered, but their drivers obviously to have the 'indestructable' problem and learn the hard way.

I was chatting to a guy with a X5 that refuerd to it as a Hovercraft. I had to tow him off a snow drift smile.gif I laughed as he was obviously playing on the lane in the snow with his two young boys in the car with him

  5. Jules instead of punches we could a small trials area or 2, always worked well there in the past.

Could add a twist or 2, a timed section (not racing mind) or a winch assisted trial section.

Just to mix things up a little...........Any thoughts from other shire members?

    Ash

Ash if you don't mind but we don't have any canes if you get some I'm sure I can sweet talk H smile.gif I do has some flags from years ago..

    Also

Just a quick one there are two speed camera's on the way in and one on the way out so please watch your speed also there is a gate which members will need to open and close behind them on the entrance off the main road.

    thanks

    Julian

  6. I've been playing up round the A3

yesterday my wife took the 110 to get to the stables but in 16" of snow and on a big down hill she had a off the resulted in sliding it 150m down and managed to ditch it into a bank but on the way back she slowed down for some people and following me in the disco which began to struggle and then in the same spot she was forced to stop and slid back down backwards and managed to ditch it again in the same spot luckily everyone was OK and the stuck was also fine but she drove with dropped tyre pressures after that but she is still a bit shaken.

other wise we have been having a great time out playing and still top trumps was towing a fully loaded artic 400-500m up hill backward with the 110 the driver was well happy as he could get back to his depot.

  7. Club Calendar

This will be a New Venue for most members as SLRC have not use this site for the best part of 5-6 years but its a great site used by other clubs for trailing and RTV's so its a good technical driving site for all levels of off road driver. Its smaller than the military sites but can be more challenging in areas with some water but has a gravel terrain which can be easy in some areas but challenging in others.

A bit of something for everybody.

We will do our best to get a burger van smile.gif

See the club's calendar section for more details

  8. Cage still not finished, most of the truck is still in bits as well, so I wont be there........aiming for Mannington now, havent been there for about 10 years or so!

    Merry christmas!

    Dave.

I must admit I havn't been there for the best part of ten years either..having said that I did a photo shot there with the rally freelander and the dakar freelander with Paul Green. but that was 03/04 see you there

  9. I have been having problems with my Td5 manifold studs shirring over time.

my manifold is warped so I need a new one or I'll have it skimmed, I tried a quick fix but snapped a newly fitted stud rebuilding it all so I could still drive the Disco in the mean time.

I had the same problem fixed by a local garage two years ago so if I repair it now it will only give out again. I was chatting to a mate that has a similar problem but not quite so advanced as mine he was saying that the racing Td5's have bigger stainless studs fitted. I can drill out and helicoil the old studs for larger ones but its getting the right ones as my knowledge of stainless steel grades is limited.

Or simply fitted larger M10 steel studs.

does anyone have any experience of these mod

  10. The wheel bearings will wine when they have failed but they can last for ages like that.

they will not have any play in them, they will just wine which will slowly get louder and louder.

they are not easy to change unless you have a press
