Yes!!
Thank god this build is coming back to life, I love the fabrication work
Down pipes look tidy enough too
-
Thanks, yes the Citroen does indeed run wssted spark system so options are good open there, I was primarily just looking at MJ as easiest and cheapest way of giving it electronic ignition.
Hmmm, an Efi 2CV might give me some horse power over the shetland pony power of srandard
will look for the VW coils and see what they come up like and then try and price it up, whole thing is on limited budget but this could be good for fits and giggles.

A while ago I started work on a Citroen Dyane6, slightly modernized 2CV.
After almost a year off the project and two days fruitlessly trying to get this bi¥h running properly and it barely starts and even then badly runs, anyone who knows these will know the distribution is a cow to set up and frankly, after 2 days infinately adjusting it and getting somewhere near nowhere, I'm sick of it.
New plugs, leads, points & condenser, coil and a lot of careful aligning of everything and marking of distribution box, and still no joy.
I just want it to run!
Is it even remotely possible to put MJ on a citroen flat twin?

I almost forgot about posting this, but have a read through the stages and the paragraph at the end should appeal.

This is just epic

No, not since Eindhoven a month agoYou been offroading and bent your track rod?... I had this issue as the rod rubbed on the diff in the middle... I'd be checking the whole system for something rubbing where it shouldn't...
Googling has brought this up as a possibility too!Oil the steering uj's they have a habbit of ceasing and causing stiff spots.
Mike
I have a spare so might swap them over, although just gonna go and liberally douse the joints in WD until I have time to dig out my spare.
-
Steering has gone stiff, not all The way round but from 9 O'clock to 3 O'clock it is stiff and will not self centre anymore
Who's on the list of usual suspects?
-
Thing is, having seen the price tag attached to a full restoration I can actually justify the price, it is nice though!!Deluded is the only word that comes to mind...
Although a lot of dough for a series!

Hubs an stubs, the rest is scrap.

Been busy with the measuring stick, the bare radio doesn't even fit let alone with the plugs in the back!!
I know my mate Paul fitted his into the glove box under the dash but never knew why? Guess I do now
Wondering whether to make a bit of a mod to my dash?
Idea so far is to remove the manifold thing behind the center dash vents and open up the slot enough to fit the radio and then a bit of creativity with some left overs from the dash recovering to trim it off as presentable.
Not sure it would work but at least there would be a nice spot in the center for switches

94' 300Tdi will have under bonnet fusebox, ign+ to radio white/green(from memory!) Coul be rad harness yellow as that seems to also be std colour.
there are earths everywhere on the bulkhead, you could always add a new one, can never have enough earths!
-
Clock and radio share a common earth.
Interior lights on a different circuit IIRC?

Would you not be better to take a trip to Exmoore Trim and get them to varify?
I mean, they produce and supply the kit so they are best to put their rubber stamp to it surely?

I made up 2 old fire extinguishers as air tanks, welded on an off cut from some galv water pipe with 1/2" thread on and ready to go. I sold them on as I changed the plan in the end, still holding air 2yrs on too

Why won't my new radio fit into the radio slot in the dash of the 200 Disco?
I spent ages with the soldering iron making the connections and faffing as usual but when it came to actually slotting it in, it goes in but sticks out by 2 inches, don't go in any further at all and I don't want to push too hard, tried pulling the wires back to let it slot in but not budging at all
Any ideas? Anyone else had the same?

I saved up a pair of electric window switches from a 300Tdi Disco with the idea of using them as in cab winch controls, thing is, bit baffled as to which of the 5 terminals on the switches I need to use?
Plan is to have a master control switch to ensure no accidental knocks or nudges cause harm, and the up and down become in and out, pretty sure I read about someone doing it, just can't find out how it was done.
Anyone got a how to they can share?
-
Now that sounds like fun!
Will triple check with her in doors and see if it's doable

Have you posted it on the LROCB FB pages Henk?
we have provisionally booked the camp site in Bruyssen(?) For 25/26 September, but could make a few alterations I suppose?
-
Blimey! Good to know your unharmed!
My mate Paul had the exact same thing, although his attempted to get into the cab of the Disco and there was power enough to bulge the floor and put a split in it too! I felt guity as I replaced both UJ's two weeks earlier, albeit using his table top press and not mu vice and sockets as usual.

In late September I am planning to go back to St, Omer in North west Frace, it's in the Flanders region so very picturesque!
Thing is, two days camping and I'd like to incorporate some green laning whilst we are there.
Anyone local to St. Omer want to share some knowledge, or are there any ordinance survey map type jobbies where we can find some lanes for ourselves?
Help greatly appreciated

Interesting stuff! I found it helpful to add 200ml straight mineral 2stroke oil per fill to get best out of the 200Tdi, funilly, emissions on comparrison where far lower(to the point of the tester wondering if the machine was knackered!) On the second MOT (first MOT was after 2yrs standing idle being repaired with the half tank in that it came with).
Now petrol, the V8 Disco was so much better on the big branded super dooper ultra fuels but the frequency of filling up a tank of a V8 Disco meant it was prohibitive! I avoided all small independent and LUK, AVIA tank stations as regular Euro95 made th engine run rough, to the point of replacing and servicing it as it was so rough running!

One question, does the gear shift sit in the centre, (between 3rd/4th gates) ?
I had this on another Disco where the spring bias plate had broken off and become lodged against the shift meaning no 1st 2nd or reverse!
Open up the top of the shift housing, and have a look, if it's this then easy fix with your welder or couple quid for a new one.

The only ugly thing with change from SW to HT/van is that any and all LEZs that could have been traversed in the SW are now out of bounds!
There are no such luxuries in the UK for light freight vehicles unlike many other countries where a light freight commercial vehicle is barely 1/10th, but considering the UK has one of the lowest passenger carrying vehicle tax duties in Europe, I fail to see anything to get excited about saving a very small ammount compared to the rest of modern europe.
