  1. what's the part number for that washer? and how many do I need for the whole vehicle? does it mean a couple of rubber mounts, a bolt and a washer/tube thing for each mounting? How many mountings are there in our rangies?
  2. Guys! Those of you who have restored the tailgate using these kits, could you please tell me if it is hollow inside or not (at least, in those places where the hinges should be fixed to)? BTW, watch the pictures here: http://lrforum.ru/topic/7120-то-о-чем-мечтают-все-владельцы-rrc/page__p__130934__hl__мечтают__fromsearch__1#entry130934
  3. thanks for the answers! what's that overdrive and how do I fit it on my old RRC? (manual box) sounds very interesting, but never heard of it before... so, if I don't have an overdrive (btw, how do I check?), i should use ratio 1,0?
  4. sounds really confusing, as I don't think my car is equipped with an abs (it's the early type of braking system). do you know by chance which are the major differences between ABS and non-ABS axles? it seem this car is a 'hotchpot', so could it be so that they took an ABS-enabled axle, and installed a non-ABS diff/brakes?
  5. any news? how do I tell the diff ratio by axle number?
  6. hope that it's just the seal. btw, there was just one п-shaped seal (other people always use plural form which confuses me alot). besides, I had to cut the pipe, as i couldn't undo the fitting on the vehicle - later I used large vice clamps for the fitting and a big pipe wrench to rotate the slave - it was way overtightened... the thread is quite unusual - couldn't find anything similar in local shops, so asked a lathe operator to make a new one for me...
  7. western, how did you take the first of those two pictures? Did you have to undo the bell? Where's the place the clutch rod pushes the fork? (see the picture) All of a sudden my clutch pedal became soft and the master cylinder empty. When topping it, we noticed a leakage from under the bell. So we took off the slave (cutting off the pipes), but I'm not sure if it's not the fork. I'll try to shoot a movie tomorrow and may be use a snake camera to see what's inside. The thing is either my tacho doesn't tell the truth, or my clutch was slipping on the fifth gear. (making 70kmh with 3500 revs isn't what I expected from the 5th gear). besides, the speedo isn't always correct (sometimes it' mistaken by 20-30 kmh), so I can only trust my GPS and my eyes... silly situation, but first we suspected the rear crank seal and oil contamination on the clutch plate, but the oil level inside the engine remained the same... So, what seems strange for me is that the pedal became soft that suddenly, at once. Besides, the rod can easily go from 7 cm to 1,5 cm out of the bell, moving the fork. cheers
  8. What do those 'overdrive' graphs mean, I wonder?
  9. Hm. RRC'87 3.5V8 over here with almost similar symptoms: revs seem to change significantly with the same speed (noticed that on fifth gear). As far as I got, to get to that rear seal I have to remove a gearbox with a transfer box (correct me if I am wrong). As the delivery of spare parts takes too much time here, it seems reasonable for me to order everything that might be needed. What are the other seals (or parts) that are handy to get replaced? Do I have to order a clutch, or in case of oil contamination, I don't need a clutch replacement? What's the preferred supplier of oil seals for landrover? I got the gaskets from Victor Reinz, but they don't seem to have those crank rear seals available...
  10. Les, thank you for the post! How do I tell if I have excessive play in the pinion/crownwheel mesh? What type of play is that? My front and rear prop shafts have a clockwise-anticlockwise play of approximately 30°-40° - and I guess that's not nice, but that's the problem of my tranfer box/central diff. The same play in the front/rear diffs is smaller. Is there a simple way of getting rid of it? Where do I find the next pot on rebuilding the diff? (if it exists?)
  11. Ralph, could you please have the same list for rrc of the mid 80s? My rear axle's serial number is 35532957G.
