just use a 3.5 or 3.9 cam in the 4.6 block and ditch the cam retainer.

At the land rover show last weekend I saw a defender with 2 rear axles, using normal trailing arms another transfer type box on the 1st diff so it provided and extra output onver the diff housing for the last axle. I meant to get pics but forgot

I have, love the work, but I cant see if you said what joint you went with, you where saying about using the D2 bush (http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-ANR6947P) ?
I was at The land rover show last weekend and I saw a 1 link with a pin bush setup.(http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-STC618) not sure if it was that exact joint but seemed quite good in theory with regards to articulation. -

I've put a set of the 15" pro-comps on the rear on mine, its been tray-backed so nice and light... bit a an experiment/fun on a budget... yet to see how the perform mind, tho I'm not doing anything fast so damping shouldn't be an issue.

Dan,
How did you select your radiator - was it a scrap yard tour, or do you have some info that gives rad sizes for diffferent cars to make it easier??

The good thing with a single ram is that you can keep the track rod and maintain the Ackerman, but might be worth upgrading the rod ends to a rose joint or similar to cope with the extra stress. Defo a good find with the axles!

You could have a high power one built that's what I did coat me £100 fitted

Are you going to run Hydro steering? if so single or double ram?
-
Hi all. I have been reading through the posts on hydro steer and has anybody come across the hydraulic steering on a Zetor tractor? This has its own belt driven hyd pump, res, ram, etc, but there is no orbital unit on the steering wheel, it uses a conventional steering type arm and some how assists the steering in the dirction required!(dont ask me how it works) As i understand it this would sort out the legal issue of the mechanical link, but dont know how it would perform on the road? I have driven one of these tractors and it did seem a little notchy on the steering, but it was an old tractor! However my thoughts were that if you fitted this system using an airconditioning pump clutch on the hyd pump, and had the ram on quick release couplings, the unit could be simply switched off and removed for road use.
I found this quick link of a system http://www.powersteeringkit.com/zetor.html
I would guess its a bit like the hydro assist bolt kit.

Anybody use one of these?
Are they any good?

Loads of unsprung weight there, not good for speed or hill climbing. but will be invincible otherwise!
