  3. Morning all, In my defender is a 300tdi recon engine, question is I need to do my timing belt change but don't know which kit to get as I'm not sure what year the engine is, Is there and tell tale signs that can tell me if its a early or later engine? Jim

Good afternoon gentlemen Well as from my last post my landrover 90 died on me the day before I went on holiday, turned out to be the main shaft had snapped in the gearbox, I've had the box re con and delivered back to the garage that then rang me and asked to come have a look because they couldn't get reverse, phoned the bloke that done it and told him to get his backside upto to the garage asap and get it sorted. Next day get a phone call from the gearbox T%*t oh there's nothing wrong with it I got all the gears. Garage called and asked me to come have a look and see what I thought, well I drove lots of landrovers whilst I was in the military and now having my own one the gearbox didn't seem right to me. He told me the gearbox bloke was slapping the leaver acroos and smacking it into reverse, I'm no expert but I don't do that when I'm driving. Question is should when you put it into 5th gear and let go of the stick it shoots back across 3inch towards the centre of the dash?????? And you shouldn't have to slap it rally quick into reverse should you? Just need some info before tomorrow when all hell is going to break loose as I've parted with £995 for this and now not very bloody happy Jim

  11. Driving home yesturday pulled up to lights went green started to pull away a nice clunk and no more drive!!! Managed to pull to the side tried high low the lot and no drive what so ever! Only asking as I'm going away today and need to sort this out first day I'm back just wondered what I should check first Oh and it had a new clutch a few months back
  12. Well this topic has saved me asking the same question again, I've got the same problem but mine also goes off when braking sometimes and when you indicate aswell! maplins here I come
  13. Yes thats the ones, but I had the Injectors changed by a very well known landrover place and they slit the ends to put them back on instead of changing them!
  14. Update, I really would rather not say what the problem was in the end lol What a t#%t! After taking off clean and re placing everything oil like it was a desial leak! All I'll say is my engine is nice and clean! And I really shouldn't own a landrover! Thanks for the help guys Jim
  15. Thanks for all your input, pulled up at my garage and got my ramps out and oil already on the floor! Cleaned everything off and can't see where it's coming from???? Sump bolts are loose so took that off and re sealed all of that, but to me it's coming from the oil filter side because of the oil on the front diff, it is a 300tdi Oil filter is tight- so going to put oil back in lay underneath and start her up and hopefully she will show me where it's coming from

  17. It's defo engine oil but can't for the hell of me see where it's all coming from, could it be from the seal on the sump?
  18. Get back to the 90 after work to find a nice oil patch underneath, drove home left it for 45 mins and another nice patch! Can't see where it's coming from but there's oil sat on top of the diff in the grove. Any pointers where I can start for tomorrow's adventure covered in the black stuff

  20. Good evening all, as per title, everytime I indicate my trailer light flashes aswell without me having the trailer the trailer on????? how can I sort this? owner before has put 2 high level lights on there and not sure how they've wired it in as its all the same colour cable Jim

  22. Good afternoon all Does anyone know what size the threaded bolt is that the tensioner bolts on to? I know it's a 15mm nut but not sure what size the bolt is as the thread is knackered engine side and now there's not enough bolt sticking out like it should do Jim
  23. Outstanding I've stood in front the the engine bay for the last 2 hours scratching my arse trying to work out which cable did which! I now know there isn't any movement when the switch lever is moved, the lower cable on the box isn't moving Thank you so much Jim
