  2. pump sounds very noisey andy, if you leave it to prime up it stops. start it up again and then switch off. it sounds like someone rinsing at the dentist i assume it is drawing in air some where , it starts and runs fine but the noise of the pump drives the poor sod batty :wacko: ron.
  3. got the fender running well after earlier problems with purging the fuel system.it came back today with the pump continualy priming every time you try to start it starts first time but contiues to purge driving me nuts at the moment :( any advice would be more than a little welcome. ron.
  4. same on ours, turned out to be crank shaft damper pulley. although it did not appear to have much play, but what a difference it made, hope you get it sorted because it does tend to drive you nuts. ron.

  9. as above, just done a full service on our td5 defender, ran fine. untill we changed the filter under the chassis, primed to the book. pump working non stop i e whizzing round like a demented wasp, will it sart?????will it eckers like. any advice on priming the thing or any other suggestions would be very helpfull. ron.

  13. owing to the onset of old age we need to swap our manual disco for an auto ,could anyone give me any indication what to look for as i have always driven manual landies. are they more thirsty,how reliable are they, what sort of problems should i expect. any advice and information would be very helpfull ron,
  14. it may well take me a week as well, as my garage is taken up with a renault scenic with burnt out valve problem, and i just do not fancy working on blossom in the bloomin frost.(blossom is what our cousins daughter named the disco). but, :blush: ron.

  16. for some strange reason our water temp guage just decided to drop to zero whilst driving along the a5 any ideas as to what could have gone wrong as i do not want to drive not knowing how hot the old girl is would it be the guage itself or the sensor on the thermastat. any advice would be more than welcome ron.

  20. could anyone tell me if their is an easier way of disconnecting the engine wiring loom, the wirinh seems to go all over the place and i wondered if their was some connectors that i havn't found yet, ye gods, it's driving me nuts, so any help or advice would be very helpfull ron.

  23. i have To remove the engine on our 300tdi disco and would very much like some advice on lifting kit. i have the chance of buying a new sealey one ton capacity engine crane and would like to know if this would be adequate for the job or would i need a larger lifting capacity any help or advice would be very welcome ron.
