  8. i think i will advise my cousins lad to make the effort to get a roll cage fitted ASAP. they were bloody lucky to get out of that, any suggestions as to where we can get a decent one from. he has not yet ventured on to laning but would like some advice on roll cage. many thanks. ron.
  9. as reguards the airco motor/fan you will probably need a new one, we tried to free one off on a td5 after about two hours we gave up. he found one on e bay. if you decide to take it off remember to use loads of wd40 on the mounting brackets (the bolts have a habit of snapping off due to rust, sorry can't help with the light problem. ron.
  10. glad your sorted, nice cheap fix , can't be bad ron.
  11. many thanks for the helpfull advice, went for new in the end, ordered from turners yesterday, turned up at 9 am today. in and running smooth as a disco can ever be called smooth. so coffee time and then take it out for a run.. ron.
  12. many thanks for the very quick replies will contact turners this morning. the problem i have with getting stuff reconditioned is that the landy will be off the road too long, as my lynda is severly disabled we need the car on a daily basis so new makes more sence, once again ,thank you. ron.
  13. could anyone tell me where to get replacement injectors for our disco 300tdi and what price would we be expected to pay. i have seen several on e bay but would rather deal with a recomended dealer. any advice would be most welcom. ron.
  14. your more than welcome. ron.
  15. if you can wait a couple of weeks we are going to norfolk with the tin tent, i will be happy to call in at the breakers and see what they have, (any excuse to play with landies)
  16. try haywards 4x4 at docking (norfolk) could well be lucky as they have several breakers round the back, they also do restorations so may well be able to sort one out 9 my landrover man says he cannot get hold of one although they still are available,
  17. must admit i like that type too,i know you can still get them for the disco 1 300 tdi but not sure about the td5,. will make enquiries at our local spares man and see what he has to say. ron.
  18. done the egr removal on our 300tdi, not noticed a great improvement in power, cleaned out the intercooler (ye gods that took some cleaning,,,) and decatted with the defender down pipe and it runs a lot smoother but not too sure about fuel economy yet, b ut still think it was worth the effort. ron.
  19. just change the ignition lock, their is no need to have them coded your remote will work the central locking, as will your original keys.it's just that you will have an extra key on your key ring.hope this is of help. ron.
  20. way too nice to break, if you decide what you want for it let me know. i may well be interested. as reguards to value, in todays market not a lot is selling at the moment and lets face it. a car is only worth what anyone wants to pay for it, so name a price and see how it goes. ron.
  21. welcome, the only reason i bought another disco was to improve my welding skills lol.
  22. never thought of that, sound advice snagger,,
  23. it still sounds very much like a linkage problem, just because the system seems to be moving does not mean that it is moving or pulling the distance it should on some cars the rods and links inside are adjustable, the length of the exterior handle to lock link rod is adjustable by screwing up or unscrewing from the lock assembly the length of the other rod/interior handle link rod can also be altered by rotating the spring tentioned nylock nut found on the end of said rod,, hope this is of help. ron.
  24. it will probably just be the linkage that goes from the lock to the handle thats come adrift you will need to get the door card off to check though,, you should be able to remove the door card with the door closed(a bit of a pain but it can be done) good luck with it. ron.
  25. just a thankyou for all the advice and links for doing the gear lever bias plate on our disco, now sorted. once again many thanks ron.
