  1. Truth is I messed up. After buying my landy it failed the not on rear brakes. I wasn't aware of the disco upgrade so paid for the drums to be fixed up.... so I've got good brakes and a **** diff now. Hence my question as a friend has given me a 24 spline diff out a disco for free
  2. Frc8094 and frc8095 v8 military spec 24 spline half shafts according to Google trawling, and thick drive flanges, no part number supplied... Can anyone confirm?
  3. Which half shafts and drive flanges do I need to get for this setup. Cheers
  4. Brilliant. Thanks for the help. I was on about the rubber pipes yes. If I get stuck with this pan hard bush bolt I may pm you. But I'll see how I get on. Cheers
  5. Jbs, do you have any pictures of fitting your setup? Cheers
  6. Any idea what brake pipes I will need? The ones on the td5 axle have been cut when the axle was removed. Ta
  7. Its got play on the input in out side to side etc. Being as there tapered roller bearings can I add some shims and re-tighten and see if that helps? Really can't be bothered to strip the diff out and to bits as I plan to fit a disco rear axle in the near future.
  8. It still has the radius arms attached to the new axle. So the holes in the chassis are a standard size I'd just need to get some td5 chassis end radius arm bushes?
  9. I've found one of the above its the none abs single pipe brake caliper setup with ventilated discs. Will it bolt straight on my E reg 90? Looks a different setup on mine at the moment. Am sure the hockey sticks bolt on under my axle but the td5 one is different. It makes no odds I hope but question is will the td5 arms fit my chassis etc?
  10. Front swivels heavily worn, Chrome balls have pitting, One brake caliper broken, Both brakes contaminated with grease/oil from leaking swivel seals, Both brake discs heavily worn, Radius arm bushes worn both ends, And its got a dink in the diff housing where someone has hit something hard.. Am I best rebuilding or sourcing a disco front axle? If yes do I buy an early 10 spline or later 24 spline? I have a good none leaking defender steering box and drop arm, so am a but reluctant to change this, will this work with the disco axle setup? Thanks
  11. I've had the whole binnacle off and traced pos and earth, made two short Leads with bullet connectors and tested it on the battery, all works fine. Via a 9? Pin connector the feed it red/white wire and it won't work on its own when plugged up. So my question is where does the live come from to the connector plug? Hope it makes sense, thanks
  12. How much should I be paying to do my front axle balls/pins/bearings with everything else u do whilst in there? Don't think my swivel balls are pitted so maybe these could be saved and the cv's don't click. Thanks.
  13. im having this exact problem today, I popped the interior light switch out as I have no interior light, and no instrument illumination.(its been like this since I bought it. the wiring is a real mess.) on mine there is no plug to go onto the back of the interior light switch/instrument lights. can only find a purple and white wire from the interior lamp back to the switch area with a bullet type connector on it... anyone have a bulkhead wiring diagram for an E reg 90?
  14. can this be done? im sure my mate with a s3 200tdi has a mechanical gauge. I like them and don't want a fancy electric one. where could I pipe one in? there must be a small plug on the pressurised side of the oil pump somewhere. just looking on the parts book to see if anything stands out. cheers
  15. hi, what is involved in removing the turbo off a 200tdi disco engine? I need to renew my exhaust manifold gasket as its blowing. cheers.
  16. I have put in the disco lump a few months ago, the old td steering box was left in and I plumbed up the pipes to the disco pas pump that came on the engine. the td pipe had a nasty kink in it and made the steering noisy and eventually burnt the pump out. I fitted another disco pump in its place and changed the kinked low pressure? thicker hose for some standard hydraulic hose and re-routed it to make more room on the chassis leg for the boost pipe etc. problem is its started really leaking after a month or so and making noise again. how did other people overcome this during the conversion? im a tad confused a ssome people suggest to use the td pump/pipes/header/steering box setup with the tdi pulley fitted, and others suggest use the defender 200tdi pump if anyone has any pics of there post conversion setup this would be a great help. thanks
  17. as above, need the proper ones with nuts/washers. I want to bolt on a steve parker conversion downpipe as the engine is in my 90
  18. my 200tdi has got a line of black oil leaking from the head gasket area all around the top of the block, notibly more so under the turbo and at the back end, its not a massive leak but its annoying me as im wondering if im missing classic head gasket failure signs it has no water in the oil or vice versa, no mayo under filler cap and it doesnt use any water am I missing something or does this seem normal? it does seem a little down on power if im honest. if it is the head gasket starting to go, is it possible to re-torque the head bolts and see if it stops the leak or shall I just do it properly with the head off etc....? over to you guys.
  19. just picked up a mint condition 300tdi dash out of a 90 to replace my tatty broken dash, about to go and remove it now, am I wright in thinking its a direct swap? I hope so as the binnacle and top piece are mint, no need for a raptor binnacle if so not bad for £30, anyway best go strip it before he looks on egay at what they sell for..
  20. its for a 300tdi setup i bought to replace mine so i need to custom wire
  21. part of my wiring is missing, and what I can find of it back there isnt worth using again, so am going to wire into a simple switch on the dash as a temporary measure to get me past mr mot man in a months time. is the pump 12v live feed via a switch/fuse then to the bodywork? ta
