never knew they made a '6 bolt' box, what was that fitted to and what's the difference? different ratio? different effort? variable? more precise? Lighter unit etc?
I presume the 4 bolt was an improvment over the 3 bolt , but likewise anyone know the actual differences?

I was hoping these companys that made Galavanised chassis for Landys / Defenders etc also did one for RR or Disco, but it seems not, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. Why would Richards etc make em for 90s etc but not Rangies?
Edit: just found a place by searching around on the net

HI Callum. Done nowt as been busy on other vehicles including my Plymouth
However , I saw some nice old Rangies at the Ardingly show on Sunday so it gave me a little nudge to get back on it soon.
-
lifted my rangey shell off with just two people (was stripped though, no doors, floor, glass or .. anything left on it. Oh and thats with it unbolted at the bulkhead so its from the A pillars back
I have done a Patrol body swap using two engine cranes though!

Hi thanks but that doesn't really clear it up for me, anyone else know?
-
while it is misfiring , is it smoking white smoke a lot? if so it could be a fuel blockage (filter etc)
-
Well guess what just DROVE out of the workshop.
Ok so theres no exhaust, or body or, um, other stuff, but at least it runs!
-
I know early 2 door rangies were bolt-together (floor, side members, inner wings, bulkhead etc) and late (4 door) cars were just spotwelded, but where are the year break points?
are ALL 2 doors bolted or were early 80s ones welded?
are ALL 4 doors welded or are some early ones bolted?
years and ways of telling (say from a photo of car for sale) would be appreciated thanks.

double check you don;'t have a duff bulb (shorting internally between hi and lo) try one light at a time to check .
-
erm.. no, not even got the bodyshell on , please don't hold your breath!
-
heater in place and connected up
Patrol spring platforms cut off and Range Rover ones tack welded in place.

I can't remember, they were fostering him or something and found a home for him, but he came back because the bloke who bought him got told off by his mum or girlfriend or something because they didn't approve.
I think he is about 3 or 4 and is neutered.

Here's the other Max the rottie
-
PS maxtherottie. Someone just asked if I knew anyone who could offer a home for a rottie, his name is max. my pics of him are titled maxtherottie . freaky!

sorted!
I'm using the heater unit from a 1989 which has slightly better controls and they're illuminated too. Heater core appears slightly different from earlier models too so I presume they improved the performance (more channels etc)
-
Well I painted the fuel tank.
And I've been pulling the heater core out of the casing and cutting and drilling it to modify it. Plan is to get the pipes coming out the side of the heater instead of the front, there's a cylinder head right in the way of where it would be .
Where's my solder?

I ran my Patrol on 50-60% veg, but when the price went from £1.50 for a 3 litre bottle all the way up to £3.45 for the same bottle over about a year, I bailed out . Can't help thinking the supermarkets all thought 'ooh this is selling far too well, we keep selling out of it, lets put the price up' bet nobody buys it at all now!

Bit O' progress
Now have a sealed tunnel and a working handbrake.
-
Some patrols have a diff offset to one side. (one of the 260 series , the spanish built Patrol with leaf springs) but that model also came with a centralised diff depending on what gearbox/transfer case it had. Just a thought.
-
I've put Patrol axles in mine but that may not be the best solution for your vehicle, becuuse I also changed my engine and transmission.
-
If there are tiny breaks in the lines that are not working, they could be causing the interference where they are trying to conduct.
-
Cool thanks a lot.

Done a few things. Finished making the fuel tank, modded the rear of the floor where the park brake drum is, and made a hole for the wiring to go through the bulkhead at the side, and have also done most of the engine bay wiring. (We now have headlamps, horn, front indicators etc) , Also added 2 inches to the six body resting points ready for the main bodyshell when it sits back on on its 2 inch blocks.
Can I Swap An '84' Tailgate With An '86' model?

Is it a lot of work to convert an early vehicle over to internal release type tailgate?
