Am building up a 72 car from a pile of parts really and I don't have any front mudflaps, but I do have one front bracket. Can't see any holes on car for the brackets but I think that's because of previous repairs in the area where the holes would have been.
Questions:
*Did all RR's have holes for those brackets?
*Did they always come fitted with front and rear flaps from the factory?
*Lastly, what colour should the front and rear brackets and stays be, body colour? black? Thankyou!

ooh new one on me too that site. Love the vid where they're driving the chassis about.

speshly with fulltime 4wd and chunky tyres.

no people keep bringing be broken cars to fix so all I've done to the beast is start to plan where the wiring harness is going to run, the rangerover one goes up the A pillar and over the roof but the Patrol one (which I'm using mostly) runs down the transmission tunnel then goes under the car when it gets to the seat.

I want to avoid any arch cutting, however I do have a set of spare (ropey) panels so I could always run with those on for a while, thats the beauty of these old cars, the removable rear quarterpanels. Love it. I don't plan on any offroading, It will however my driveway is so bad it needs a 4x4 in wet weather. Main duty for this machine will be towing a trailer on road, and I will be looking for road pattern tyres.
Disco Al.. body not hard to remove and two people can actually carry the thing (assuming yours is also a pre 85 so not including bulkhead etc)
you could even dismantle it further and remove it in sections by
removing the roof
removing the rear goalpost
taking the side frames off individually.

Yes everything except some small bits (brake boosters, springs, brackets) is 2K paint. I am putting waxoyl between all the parts as I assemble it too, takes a bit of time and mess but I want it to last. I have also engraved most of the parts of it , even inside where you can't see it or grind it off, just incase it ever gets stolen, oh and a few RFID chips and a tracker and custom immobiliser going in too just for belt & braces.
I am rubbish at painting (no patience for all that prep) but I'm not going for concours vehicle, its strictly functional and I don't care about some runs etc. Its got to last me though, I can't see any reason why I won't still have this in 20 years time by which time it will be 60 , so like owning a 1952 car now, (ancient!)

no luck at rover guy, anyone got an arm?
Working on goalpost and rear crossmember
Making some repair pieces for bottom of goalpost
Welding new crossmember in . Also replaced some rusty metal on rear inner arch.
applying new butyl seal to goalpost
Back in, and stonechip paint / primer
Also been slicing and dicing an old intercooler to get it to work on this car, had a piece of tube turned locally , I cut it and the end tank of the intercooler and made a filler piece then got it all tig welded in by another (awesome) local place.
putting the inner wings back on
Testing intercooler placement ready for making mounts

front, (hence urgent for mot monday)
thats what happens when you build a car from remains of 2 range rovers, some bits are absent. GOing to try a local rover parts guy incase any car ones are same. Spline looks very common type on british cars.

just realised i'm missing a wiper arm, anyone local got one?

stock seats, headlining , door cards etc, but putting a 1989 heater and dash top (better heating and ventilation) but using the patrol instrument binnacle thing and all patrol switches. (whole wiring harness patrol) Will need to box in the instruments properly at later date.

no I'm trying to do a proper job on this!

Rollin' on all fours.
project continues with work on the bodyshell
Did I mention I'm hoping to have this car on the road in 5 days?
-
Okay just tacked my new rear crossmember (Paddocks) into my goalpost frame ....
and checked it back on the bodyshell , problem!
The right angle profile is not right angles its slightly out, say 87/88 degrees, meaning the floorboard does not sit properly on the top of it!
Looking from the side it looks all wrong, the top of the old one was parallel to the floor, this one isn't.
Did I just get a duff part or are they selling them all the same like that?
I see several places sell these, are they all made in the same place or are there better ones?
Anyone else had this prob and what did you do about it, did it still work ok being out like that? Thanks!
Help!

thanks will give some of those a go. However found a bigger problem with the crossmember, I'll put up another post about it.

Just been fitting in replacement rear crossmember, hinge pin holes too large so the splines on the ends of the hinge pins just pass right through, anyone else had this? Panel is from Paddocks. Whats the best way to sort this?

Thanks. Yes i realise they were out of sight but so is the whole underneath of the body and they painted that
Just remembered I have a new bulkhead sitting here on the shelf so I looked at that to see where the holes should be.
