  1. Hi all

My 90 has been sat for a while (months) and now refuses to move without stalling!

You can depress the clutch and engage a gear, but the slightest movement upwards with the peddle releases the clutch fully and stalls the engine....even in low box. The only way to move it is start it in low 1st and leave it there.

    Errrr help please!

    Thanks

  2. The temptation to do a 'reverse recovery' back to where I had found it was very tempting

My dad's friend did that many years ago, when he was called out in his 109 breakdown truck to a guy who'd driven his car into a ditch.....pulled him out, asked for his payment and the guy said

"na, sod you I'm not paying you, well you pulled me out now!"

My dad's friend replied "oh ok, it's like THAT is it?"

"yeah it is, what you going to do about it?"

So he got back in the 109, reversed, pushed him in the ditch and drove off.... :i-m_so_happy:

he'll probabaly pay up next time! :D

  3. Indeed, that sort of thing is a breeding ground for ill-informed hatred of what we do, hence Sharp Pointy Thing and I stuck our oars in

Indeed we did :P but someone had to "fight our corner" as it was a very one sided rant!

I notice a lot of posts have been deleted today though, including ours <_<

  4. Hi

    Welcome to the forum

A friend of mine has those on his 90 (not sure what size) he says they're great on the road and quite good at the greelaning he's done so far, until he ripped on open on a rock

As for the stud holes, don't worry about it they are a "winter tyre" by the looks of it, but I know my old Kumho' had the holes and I think my BFG Mud Terrains have them too.

255/65/R16 will fit fine on a standard 90, my BFG's are 265/75/R16 and only just rub in the arches on full artriculation, my suspension is completely standard too.

Have fun, (Western should be along shortly to do his "new user bit" :P )

  5. I too like the forum the way it is......I went through 2 other forums that seems friendly and helpful on the surface, but actually quite rude when you got down to it, so I kept podding on and found LR4x4 and I've been here since. :)

The Tech advise from the likes of Les and so on is second to none...I look here before the Haynes Manual....I've just rebuilt my front hub using one Les' "how to's", asked him advice on it by PM and it was all spot on (cheers for that by the way Les :i-m_so_happy: ), none of the "listen you daft ****...." I was getting from other forums.

My initial post suggesting of the OT forum was just a idea and I can see why you don't want to go down that road, plus if I want to chat utter s***e then it's off to Sounthern Downhill to talk.....errrrr...."current events".....hmmm....yes that'll do....

Forum works very well as it is.....although do I think you're missing out on the "Hot Girls Thread" from SDH ;):P

Keep up the good work guys :)

  6. Might be sticking my head out....but here goes....couldn't we have an "Off Topic" forum where you could dicuss whatever you like as long as it's not; illegal, offensive to others, etc, etc, etc...

I'm a menber of few downhill mountain biking forums and they all have the "Chill Zone"

    Just a thought :)

  7. The way i did was jack up the front wheels, then there's no thightness and it adjusts feely. When you're looking for a tyre place, have a ring around first because the new tracking gear won't fit around "large" tyres <_< and you'll need to find somewhere with the old drive-on-pad type.

Remember to cooper sick the threads too, you'll be thankful if you have to take it off again.

    have fun :)

  8. When fitting do i just measure TRE to TRE and adjust the new track rod to the same leagnth?

Yep that's what I did to get it close, then bit more fine tuning with some string :D (I love LRs)

Then took it to a tyre place to have it checked.....it was <quote> "bang on mate!" and watch the tyre fitters reaction when I told them I'd done it with string :o

    :P:P

  9. I bought the Britpart ones after bending 3 standard ones and they've been great since.....they also came with the track rod ends free, due to a mis-hap at the parts desk

But I'm also told that a Mercedes 308 van track rod fits snugly over the LR one with no welding

  10. And another thing........

Not only are the aerodynamics non-existent they've also got a carp radar cross section. I can get within 50yards of our local 'slow down' sign in a Focus (strictly at legal speeds of course ;) ) without it picking me up. In my 110 it gets me from miles away. Which is ironic 'cos it's got such carp aerodynamics it takes a ten mile run-up to get anywhere near the speed limit. With a back wind. Downhill....................

My friend once set one of those off WALKING past with his guitar on his back  and I've driven past the same one in my Golf and it hasn't gone off at all  more than once! :o
