  1. Ok, things go really slow. More than one year later and the garage build is not complete. My right hand needed surgery, and I have been disabled for that reason a pair of months. Now, in full working order, both wife and I have decided to say goodbye to our jobs and have started an artisian cheese business. I have decided to ditch the toylander style project for now. I think that I will use some 6" hoverboards for powering it, since they have motor, controller and battery in one single package. The price of this devices has lowered quite a lot in in last years. Meanwhile, my son is riding a Jeep with twin 12 volt motors. It has been a presen from his uncle...chief mechanic at local franchised Jeep dealer.
  2. Ebay offers plenty of cheap secondhand expolice body armor. I could take the chest part for the chest and the back part for the legs, from navel to knees. Optional armor plates can be added. I have also checked local regulations, and it's perfectly legal in Spain to own and wear this type of equipment.
  3. Yep, that is! Even balistic face shields are affordable and relatively easy to source in europe. This one is built in UK.
  4. Ok, will search for those. Thanks.p
  5. How are those type of PPE called? Have found a real secondhand item in ebay, shipped from Khazakhstan. I could buy a complete landy for that money!
  6. Sometimes things go wrong. I want to be prepared just in case. A neighbour died when working with the high presure suspension of his citroen bx.
  7. Hi all, I have been thinking about sourcing an assault helmet for using when doing weird works in with a 30 ton press, but all I have found are replicas for airsoft/paintball wars. Any idea if this type of equippment can be legally bought and where? Thanks.
  8. Focusing on the garage/pit build, so no real work on the little landy. We have bought a 6 volt quad bike. I will salvage and overvolt a similar second unit for this project. Cheap and simpler than the bicycle hub motor idea.
  9. A friend sent me this week a pair of pictures of a two post at a franchised workshop.
  10. Have found this at youtube. Same method used for buiding cranckshafts at home!
  11. If the info about Defender stub axles given by britpart is correct, all 90/110 vehicles up to KA930446 (drums on back) use the same, so AEU2522 should replace directly the smaller 32 spline CV in any Def 200 axle, matching with correct shsfts (AEU2520 AEU2521). Just wonder why Solihull used different stub axles in RR/Disco.
  12. AEU2522 suposed to go on axles up to 20L48865 in Defenders, but other data give even different axle number for left and right cv! https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/57129-a-little-cv-advice/
  13. OBy the way, a friend has a 300 tdi Disco. Engine tweaked, 285/75 33" tyres, used 100% off road and just one cv failure in 5 years. Replacement was a ****part 32 spline unit that cost just 15GBP. I have also heard about racers downsizing CVs, because the big AEU2522s usually lock when failing and take along with them the entire chrome ball, while smaller CVs simply let you continue with a noisy axle until repair.
  14. Unfortunately in Spain, where I live, british built Land Rover sales started in 1990 with the 200 Defender, so no AEU2522 23 spline cvs available at scrapyards. Only options 10/32 thick flange or 24/32 thin flange.
  15. Hi all, I want a wider and stronger front axle for my 88. I have discarded YJ Dana30 (liked the CAD system, but weak and ratio/diff offset are wrong), and also DII and japanesse axles. I think the only axle I could afford will be a 10 spline coiler axle. Cheap as I could reuse my diff centre. More cash in a few years will give me the oportunity to go for a 24 spline diff. If my 10 spline coiler axle is fitted with 32 spline rtc6862 cvs, will it be as simple as fitting a pair of 24/32 shafts? Is something else needed? (oil seal....)
  16. D2 axles willbe fitted. Dont know if possible regarding prop length/angle and chassis to tyre clearance, but modified shacke points at chassis and rear leafs to front and vice versa will transform an 88" into 76". Too short? Suzuki/Daihatsu/Bedford/PIAGGIO mini vans are a tad over 72", and aparently, even with ligth tail and forward control, dont flip forward.
  17. I whant good ground clearance and swb for good turning circle, but I Dont want to end with a looping car.
  18. Yes, thats the car! Do you think that 80" + lift could be dangerous? I have an 88 and was thinking about fitting longer leafs at front, moving shackle holes in chassis back. Going also SOA. This setup will end in 82" and 6" lift.
  19. Hi all, 10 years ago I remember reading, cannot remember if in lre magazine or net, about a rangie shortned to 80" and fitted with Volvo portals. All I know is that it was made in the UK and was black. Does anyone have info and pics about this vehicle? Thanks in advance.
  20. Complete in every way. My son Breixo has been sleeping in the landy the last three nights.
  21. New extended shocks. Let's see how they cope.
  22. Vehicle is used both on long road trips and off road.
