  4. Thanks Jon. Ah I gave my 300tdi one away before it got the v8 one so nothing to compare.
  5. Hi Mike, did you ever get a chance to look into the rubber gasket
  6. N4S got my disco 1 V8 crossmember. Which bolt hole remains and which one do I extend. I plan on chopping off the original plate making new ones and welding on. Do I use the bottom holes as my datum or the top holes on the original plate.
  7. It's 9/16 unf x18x 2 if anyone wants to know
  8. Sorry Guys i'm tired and don't know what i was looking at. there is a difference, same part number for 4.0 and 4.6. i need one from a disco 1 or RRC Sorry Guys i'm tired and don't know what i was looking at. there is a difference, same part number for 4.0 and 4.6. i need one from a disco 1 or RRC Sorry Guys i'm tired and don't know what i was looking at. there is a difference, same part number for 4.0 and 4.6. i need one from a disco 1 or RRC Guy's I have a 4.6 auto and took the torque converter aligner off to use on my 3.9 torque converter on another engine but the spigot on the 3.9 is smaller then the 4.6 torque converter spigot. I checked microcat and they have the same part number. It's part that bolts onto the crank of the engine with 6 bolts and them centres the torque converter when its bolted to it, whats going on, what am i missing. Thanks, Shane
  9. Finally got round to doing this. Big thanks to Paul from tomcat Motorsport for his patience and emails . All that left is to weld in the brackets for the watts linkage, remove axles again and good clean with a lick of paint.
  10. Guy's Sorry to dig this up but i'm finally getting around to this, one last question, i'm about to torque, have lubed up washers and nuts, do i just jump in at 70lbs or do i biuld up gradually as it says in the instal method with the kit
  11. Hi Guy's Just wondering does anyone know the detail about the crankshaft bolt for the V8 Efi Part number ERC417. What pitch, diameter, tensile strength, microcat or the supplier are very secretive, just list it as a special bolt Shane
  12. Thanks for the replies guys and thanks very much for the part numbers. Makes the job easier.
  13. Sweet, I'll look up and see if anyone is breaking a disco 1 v8 on eBay
  14. Guys, Installing a 4.2 V8 with auto box from a disco 1 V8. I know have to get the v8 gearbox crossmember after reading posts on here about how a disco 1 V8 can fit with a bit of Fettling but what about the tranny mounts. I looked up the defender ones on microcat and there mental money. Would the mounts from a disco 1 V8 work for me as they will be easier to find in a scrap yard. Thanks, Shane
  15. Need4speed, did you get sorted in the end, I'm at this stage now. Need a crossmember for my 90
  16. If anyone needs the info it's 1.5mm thick and the angle measured from the inside is 60deg
  17. Couldn't believe it, just like someone sprayed it silver. Delighted Bowie. As this would have been the end of the project. Couldn't afford a new one. Also peace of mind not having to worry about its condition in a few years Working on it tonight. I'll get a few photos of the sealer
  18. Sorry make sure also you have all the sealer out as I missed some and you can see where it bubbled out from under neath the panel
  19. Just used a length of 50mm angle. I was going to drill more holes in the part where the loom goes through but forgot in the rush and when I inspected everywhere is covered so there would have been no need. I specified that I did not want it quenched and to let it air cool outside
  20. Today was make or break for my project. The bulkhead returned from galvanisers. Drum roll please.thanks for all the replies and advice. Bulkhead in very good condition. Now just to start drilling out the excess galv and re tap some nuts
  21. Forgot all about my oil cooler. I'm fitting the 2.5td rad and to hook it up would I just run the feed pipe from my new sandwich plate into the cooler, then from cooler to oil filter housing, out the other side and back to the sandwich plate.
