  1. I have just got one of the small blaster kits. Small hopper hose and gun. Tried it out on a coil spring and the bottom plate it would sit on from a 110. Happy enough with results but the grit does tend to go every where. Thought about a bought cabinate or a home made plywood and plexi glass one. Does anyone have any ideas on what to use and would they like to share the idea? As always keeping the cost to a minimum. Thanks Mark
  2. Has any one found a way to run the exhaust other than under the cross member, were it can take a bit of a bashing.
  3. Standard swb rims are these the same as standard lwb rovers. I have std 110 rims with 7.50*16 although the LW has 205*16 BFGs tires now. I do,nt mind a bit of unoriginality and its nice to know what can and can not be swapped over thats what rovers are for and off roading.
  4. Hi, When I got my RR the head lining was in two pieces in the boot. It was then sent to the bin big mistake I have no template now. I might be able to get another tatty one to use as a template. I will also have a look at the Martin Motors GRP type. I did try to wash the head lining in my Disco it ended up drooping down. I used tin tacks to hold it back up, I might some time strip it all and paint the what ever it is under the cloth. Why did the car manufacturers stop putting the nice washable vinyl head linings in motors, damp cloth and Bob,s your uncle
  5. Ok what about satin black base with red, orange and maybe yellow laid on top. By the way this is going to a my RRC and not my LW. I just thought the military section was the best place to ask about camo. The LW will be kept standard apart from the engine. It has a duff 2.4 or 5 VM in it. I have a replacement VM to put in. What rims would a LW have had in military use. It has wolfs right now but I do,nt know if these are right they look good on it. Are left hookers worth less than right.
  6. What is the easiest way to do a camo paint finish . Say with 4 colours. I have the use of a compressor, spray gun, and sander. The vehicle will be used as an off roader and possibly on road back up. I do,nt really want to get in to hours and hours of prep work but would want it to look half good. Would it need an undercoat. Will this colour scheme be easy to recover the inevitable scratches. The way some of the guys can get a camo finish to look like it all came from the same paint pot is mighty. Can it be done easily or with a small amount of time and effort ?
  7. I made the mistake of dumping it when I got the rover. It was that bad!!! I think I wil try to make something for it out of pipe cleaners and cereal packets. A la blue peter? Just joking but I am going to make something out of eighth flexi ply and covered on the visable side with some material not sure what. Where theres a will theres a way. Mark
  8. Any one know where to get a head cloth for a 1983 4 door. I think they are a 2 piece part. I am located in N.I. Is it possible to make a home-made part or use something else in its place ? Any ideas on this would be helpful. Thanks
  9. Hovercraft with a 110 body on top, there,s a thought.
  10. I am running 235/85/16 now, I thought taller tires would lift the whole vehicle plus if I could get a wider tread it would help in muddy conditions. What would be the widest and tallest 16 tire out there. What rim size and off set would I need for it . I already have 6.5 8 spokes x 5. So do 35" tires come in 16" or 15" diameter. I am not too worried about top speed but would want to keep as near 65/70 mph. I believe I standard running gear for a 1986 110csw na and do not want to muck about with it. Maybe it would be best to just go for 265/75/16 and stick them on a set of 6.5 8 spokes and use the winch to drag her out of any holes. I suppose holes were made to get stuck in any way??????????????
  11. Can bigger diameter wheels and tires be used to achieve 2 inch lift on an 86 110 csw? I would like to put on tires with a wide foot print, can rims be got with them more to the outside of the arches to widen the track. Will the 2.5 na be able to cope with this set up? Or do I run the risk of broken half shafts? Even if the 2.5 na can manage.
  12. sounds like the way to go, i will fix the wiring to the outside of the chassis. thanks for the advise guys
  13. I think I know what you mean dis-connect at the back and pull to the front at the front. Then re-connect at the rear. Slightly confussed as to pull it from the back towards the front? Not trying to be funny. Thanks for your reply
  14. My 110 is up on axles stands having some welding done. I now have an inspection hole thanks to rust and can see the wiring. I know the wiring runs through the chassis, would it be possible to cut the wiring, pull it out where it goes in at the front and pull it out at the back also then re-connect it . Lay it on top of the chassis held by cable ties or metal tags. I don't like to call my 110 a Defender because it's not a Defender but this seems the only place to ask the question above. The 110 / 90 are the ones before 110 / 90 Defender. Is this correct? Am I being pedantic. I hope not.
  15. Thanks for the relies I think I,ll just leave it on.
  16. I have a 1986 110csw 2.5 na. Can any one tell me if the anti roll bar on the back can be done away with. What is it supposed to do, would it limit articulation off roading. Mind you I have off roaded it before now. Had not thought of it before but the 110 is in for repairs and I thought of taking it of. Any thoughts. M4rk
