Toyota Hiace, we use them for work, bullet proof and comfy to drive.

I agree with steve a, the majority of the postings in the international forum are Uk based, we do not have Sva where I live and so this is a whole area which means nothing to me.
Personally I do not post too many tech questions to this site as the dreaded sva usually rears it head if anyone even wants to discuss chassis modifications.
-
Yep ribbed for me too
we welded a small chain on down by the wheel which secures the wheel in the up position too. never had any problem with it since we did this
-
Nice one, was having a look today, what x member will you use? and is there a 90 auto propshaft?
-
Kevin , I took mine out this week ,had to cut the slam panel off to get it out in one lump.
Thanks Jase, looks like I'll do the same, you upgrading your truck? we are building a new one on a galv. chassis we have.

I have a 300tdi auto disco which I want to take the engine and auto box out of in one unit if possible, what the best way of doing this? will it swing forward or will I need to drop the unit down? lifting gear will not be an issue
Thanks

I know i live in a different part of the world, however we looked into doing this a few years ago and were told that rims needed certification by a bonded automotive engineer after they were done and the truck needed to be retested. There was a company here which used to do rims but now will only do plant and offroad rims now. I would also feel buying ready made rims with the right offset would be as cheap as getting the welding done properly.

Just a thought , has the power steering pump on the engine been changed? there are a few different types of pumps.
As for the torsion bars I have offroaded trucks for a good while with oversized tyres, using a 4 bolt steering box the truck has been through the wars and the steering box never gave any trouble except leak out the lower seal.
-
Yea but with a bit of fettling a 300 tdi turbo will fit onto a 200tdi engine and you will get a bit more boost with the 300.

Cooling fan has been cropped also, and the 300 tdi engine has such a good tolerance to overheating too :o

I do not expect too much help from Landrover, I am interested in the fact that landrover removed the anti roll bars from BF2 as I thought this would affect on road handling, also the fact that that they have a 2 inch lift with standard rated springs.
-
Not good enough.
For example the local vehicle inspectorate at the biannual 'MOT'. If LR said it is OK
that's good enough for them, an article in a magazine isn't.
We have a DOE test for commercial vehicles which is stringent enough, we have a truck which has a 2inch lift and 35 inch tyres, modified suspension, with a 4.2 tdi diesel which sailed through the local test a few weeks ago. however speaking to a friend of mine who is a retired barrister, he suggested if there was a landrover built to the same spec as ours by landrover and if we could get a copy of the documentation we could prove the modifications were done to a landrover standard.
-
Yea but in the near future, however just trying to get the truck built to an acceptable landrover spec at the moment, thanks
-
Thanks for all the replies, what I am looking for is a spec/modification sheet from landrover for the mods they did to this truck, if I can get this and ensure that any mods to my truck are to this spec essentially it means the mods would be to a landrover spec and would ensure that there would be no problems with the truck should anyone question the mods done.

Unlikely you'll be able to talk to LRSV direct. I have never
managed to get through the times I have tried.
I rest my case then, hopefully someone will come along with a few suggestions....

No, not yet, wanted to explore the possibility that some one on this forum might have the information I needed. Thanks for the suggestion, however landrover are not great at customer relations.
-
Talk to Simon at Devon 4x4. They supplied tyres, wheels and a lot of other parts for both Big Foots.
Steve
Thanks for that, however I was wondering if landrover would have a specific document which would cover the build of that truck, specs, part no's of parts used etc?
-
Sorry it 38 inch tyres  , truck is called Big Foot 2, built for landrover experience by landrover special vehicles. Would it be possible to get a copy of the build manual?

RAVE has a few listed
which modification are you referring to?
fitting 35 inch tyres to their icelandic truck and ensuing lift required to allow these to be fitted
-
Does anyone know if landrover modify a landrover in their special vehicles dept do they write a specification/manual for the modification? if they do then would it be possible to get a copy of the manual for a specific modification?
-
Yep same here very happy with their service, last order had some stuff which they did not have in stock, I got a call the day after ordering to let me know this and to ask if it was ok.
