  1. Cheers for the reminder Chris as i would have turned up next week otherwise, as i had no idea about dates as have not been for ages.

Lots of Water about, but it didnt seem that busy and not many people doing stupid things that we could watch.

Still had a great time as have not been off road for quite a while

    Cheers

  2. Mine is normally loud enough to scare most things :D and so have only had a few problems. But after a few events I have decided to ease off or brake gently for small animals and break hard if it anything big like a deer, swerving is just dangerous. If I was in a small car then I would brake if it was a animal say the size of a badger as it can cause some damage and also the small car I drive has ABS which can help with the initial reaction.

  3. I like the rear light ideas i have seen them on andy's too. I know they are function over looks, but think they would look even better if you had the NAS spec lights i.e. like the fog and reverse ones, if they would fit.

Then if you wanted the real chav look put a piece of perspex over where the original lights were

  4. Its looking good Steve B) . Which springs are on the front at the moment as its looking nice and level.

If your going to put the HD RR springs back on and the back is still lower as mine was i have just put 1 inch spacers under the springs but then this gives even more lift. I havent got round to trying out those yellow springs yet so if you want them back you can have them.

  5. Darthdicky is...... Not here right now, he has gone away sailing with friends till wednesday and will probably be finding out what a hangover at sea is like.

I will text him to tell him that you lot said happy birthday

    Cheers

  6. Ok just to continue and drag this thread back up as Dicky has left me to finish off the job and a land rover in many different pieces.

I have ordered the short reservoir to steering box pipe.

Now just need to get a piece of pipe from the reservoir to the pump now out of flexy hose. Question is can i use fuel pipe which is the same internal diameter. Does anyone know of any idea why this is a bad idea. Will power steering fluid cause the pipe to perish at all. It wont be under much pressure so that should be an issue.

I thought i would ask a grown up before i buy any.

    Cheers

  7. If this is all on private land then cool, looks like fun but i wouldn't have the guts to do that to a truck. If on a byway etc. then it is wrong and people should be informed.

Also a great way to get rid of heaps, i mean jeeps.

  8. Why was it you brought the new 90 and sold your old one??? Should have stuck with the old one its was exactly the same apart from colour wasn't it? Then you know the chassis etc. is made of proper metal.

  9. Even new Land Rover converts can't resist the Land rover Badge and can ignore stupid arguments as to why they should be band. So good for them they are allowed to spend their money on what they like and not be forced to decide due to some stupid program.

  10. Dicky won't mind at all Mark. He would have posted some up but his monitor for his computer is broken and he has just gone away for a week to Newquay to an 18 - 30's club static caravan site

So beware anyone in the area as Dicky will be cutting his groves on the dance floor.

  11. When attaching the high lift with quick fists the high lift actually sit on the bolt that the quick fist is mounted to. Then the quick fist holds the jack onto the bolt. If that makes sense?? They are tough rubber and would be fine to hold a high lift on the bolts.

    Hope that helps

  12. DO NOT buy it from ebay that is a stupid price to pay.

I had the same problem as you and then it snapped off completely.

Went to land rover. Genuine it only cost £11 plus VAT and that was from a land rover stealer who is normally expensive for parts

    Jon

pS Just realised it is a strengthened version so it may be worth the money. But my original handle lasted 12years, so for £11 im happy if the new one last the same amount of time.

I really should read properly before i post.

  13. Nice pictures Bruce Nice pictures. I went out there 2 years ago on a college trip and the scenery is amazing. I can't remember the name of half of the places we went to. However i recognised Skõgfoss waterfall as got very wet standing at the bottom of it in the spray. We were staying in the hotel around the corner from it.

Saw many waterfalls, some glaciers, and gysers which were cool. Would like to go back sometime and definately by land rover next time, maybe in a few years when i have finished being a student.

Just out of interest how much is the ferry to get out there?

Diesel seemed to be half the price of petrol when i was out there, so diesels are definately a winner out there.

  14. Right i decided it new lock time as i haven't got the time to fiddle with it at the moment and they seem cheap from paddocks. Do i need 395037 which is £19.95 or do i need STC2871 for £ 42.50. I thought they were all the same so i presume the cheaper one will fit??

Western you gave the part number MUC1030 upto VIN 314267

    ---------------or 395037 from VIN 314268

Which is mine likely to be 1991 defender I have the chassis number begining SA where is the VIN number??

    Cheers

  15. Sounds like the clutch slave cylinder has gone. So you will have to replace that but be careful the connecting rod does not come off the clutch release arm or its a case of gearbox/engine out to access it. Do a search on the forum about it.

It may be the seals in the master however i am not so sure if that would cause it, it sound more like slave if the fluid is coming out of the bell housing.

  16. Just bringing up this thread again, as my rear door lock seem to be broken now. It wont lock due to the latch not staying at the top when the door is locked, and so by lifting te handle the door opens as the small catch falls down, i think it is just something inside the latch or a small spring on the small latch is meant to be attached to has come off preventing the door from staying lock either with key or from inside.

Mike what screws did you use to reassemble the lock with?? As they need to be flush on the side which is up against the door. And how easy is it to drill out the metal bits which hold the lock together.

    Cheers

  17. Hi gary richard and i share the truck for richard. Its running HD range rover rears all round, it is a little soft at the back and can hit the bumpstops at times if hitting bumps hard. It does sit a little lower at the rear, so i have recently put 1inch spacers under the springs at the rear and so is nice and level now.

If you want a good amount of flex off road for cheap then just put these springs on with +2" shock and brake hoses, no dislocation cones required, just jubile clip then at the top to stop springs popping out and standard shock mounts can be used.

I am pleased with this setup and give good articulation as the pictures show. you may need to increase the size of bump stops to stop the tyres rubbing the rear tub.

You may want to fit heavier duty rear springs if you load up the back or want slightly better road manners.

    hope that helps

    Jon

Edit: Just realised he has beat me too it, but here is a more detailed idea of the setup, just ask if you would like any more information

  18. Thanks to steve and all other who made it possible. Had a great day and really enjoyed it. I think I managed to come away without any damage and not breaking anything which must be a first for a while.

Cheers Steve for the Road book, the warm room to stay in instead of getting battered by the wind. :D and organising everything.

Thanks to Orange, i think it was him who took my car back from the pub and saved me from walking. :)

Darth will up load his pics later but didn't get too many as we were busy playing and running out of fuel on steep slopes

    Thanks all

    Jon

  19. Tony

Have you got any pictures of the scilencer and the size of it. At the moment i have a straight through pipe so that it goes around the PTO and tucks up out the way. However i would like a scilencer back in place of the straight through pipe i have as it gets annoying on long trips but is fun around town being a boy racer.

So any info on prices etc.

Or if anyone else knows of a small scilencer that will fit and reduce the noise of a 2.5 petrol then please speak up.

Appologise for the thread high jack, but there maybe other options too,

    Cheers

    Jon

  20. :D Yes steve i am still coming and i presume that richard is but i haven't spoken to him recently.

Right i will start a list, might make it easier to see how many are coming. Not sure what the limit on numbers are for the challenge or what??
