I have a 1985 2.5 Petrol and need a new igntion switch part #551508. I was wondering if since I am going to swap to a 200tdi in the next few months could I buy the Diesel switch #prc 2734 and use it temporily on the petrol engine?
Does anyone know if a 1985 L/R 90 2.5 petrol Power steering pump and a 200tdi power stering pump are the same? I was just shipped a new pump for my 2.5 petrol by mistake and am going to swap a 200tdi in shortly. If they are the same I may keep it.

Has anyone ever had their windsheild explode into a million pieces for no reason? I have a 1985 90 and was driving along at 40mph and it just shatered into pieces. It seems to match all the other glass, it all has the XXX marking on it.

Did it seem like everything else was intact? I see the PAS res, was wondering if the rest was there, PAS pump, Alternator? Any other observations? I'd really like to know what I am getting into.

Will any Disco I set of axles work? Another Question.
I had a puddle(well a stain) under my right rear wheel the other day. Checked the brake fluid which was a little low, but it didn't seem enough to leave that big a mark on the driveway. It hasn't happened since, any ideas?
As long as I'm talking stains on the driveway, the power steering pump seems to be leaking at the bolt with the 2 brass washers, any ideas?

Thanks for all the help! As far as Axles, when I swap the frame, would it make sense to do the discovery axles to update and also get the discs in the rear? Or are my 1985 axles OK?
Are there any tips on replacing the two mounts on the LT77 tranny? (2.5 Petrol/230) Will they Just slip in or do you also have to remove the brackets from the frame? Do the Bolts need to be torqued? Etc...... I did a search but found nothing, my lingo is not that good!

Are the engine mounts on a Euro spec 200tdi frame in the same place you would need them in order to mount a 2.5 Petrol?
This may become a 2 part job, frame first, engine later, thats if I don't have to change the mounts!

I forget who asked, but these are what I used to get the Wheels on. I've had them on for 4-5k with no problems,(knock on wood), Gives the truck a bit of a wider stance which I liked also. I think they're 30mm.
I am contemplating a frame and engine swap for my 1985 LHD 90. It now has a 2.5 petrol, LT77 and the lt230. I have found a galv 200tdi frame and the engine(200tdi)/tranny(lt77)/transfer(lt230)(all from a Defender), and was wondering if there would still be much cutting inside the truck? tunnel, bulkhead, etc. And if anyone else has done this, I'm curios about other problems that arose.

I'm looking at an elec circuit Diagram for the A/C in a 1985 90 and I can't for the life of me find the condenser fan relay, compressor clutch relay, and the resistor block. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know if the Evaporator for the 1985 L/R 90 is the same in any other, more common, Vehicle, stateside that is!
The part Number I found was # RTC 7436. Its a 2.5 liter petrol.
