  1. I will be visiting NBO next week on business, does anyone know if there are any LR accessory shops, not after anything in particular, but have picked up some bargains in some weird and wonderful places when on my travels Cheers Jason
  2. Western Already done that, the nyloninsert looked to be intact but I changed it anyway
  3. Is there any reason why the nut thats holds the rear trailing arm together would come undone ? Just happened to look under the truck when inflating the tyres and it was almost completly undone The one good thing to come of it I decided to go out and buy a decent set of tools and finally got round to putting some essentials on that have been gathering dust on a shelf for a few weeks Cheers Jason
  4. Think I will go for an OME 2" lift and try the poly bushes and see what happens. Spoke to the company that make the castor correction bush and wasn't convinced. I will have to drive it and see what happens Was` looking on a different forum and someone was saying you can get a quick release system for the anti roll bar, does anyone know anything about this ? From someone who's mechanical skills are almost non existent I appreciate the feedback, its a long road and I have only just started Cheers Jason
  5. Title should read 2'' lift, [it does now ] I am going to be lifting my 90 shortly and have some questions 1. I will be replacing all the bushes but what are the pro's & con's for normal replacement bushes vrs poly bushes 2. Will I need to replace the radius arms to correct for castor angle ? I am asuming I will have to, I have also seen that a company in the UK are making castor correction poly bushes, has anyone used these ? 3.Has anyone removed the anti roll bar, if so does it have a big effect on the handling Any feedback appreciated, been an LR owner for less than 12 months and the list of things to do seems to grow almost on a daliy basis Cheers Jason
  6. I have had confirmed from the main LR dealer that the bodywork/corrosion warranty is 10yrs here in DXB Not bad me thinks
  7. From London but have lived in Saudi, Bahrain and now Dubai, and I travel throughout Africa,Middle East and Asia for a living Jason
  8. No snow here in Dubai, a very balmy 30 degrees
  9. Nadim Its got a K&N filter, I think you run one as well Thought the above idea was pie in the sky stuff but thought I'd ask anyway
  10. Mark Good to me you and the gang as well, you will be pleased to here it has nt rained since you left.
  11. Its not the case, mine was bought in Dubai and has no extensions, I am having some made locally though
  12. As the temperature here in Dubai is hot or bloody hot them I am sure the cooler air theory is correct Just an idea, is there any reason why I could not install an additional a/c compressor and divert this cold air somehow to the snorkel ? What is the volume of air that the engine pulls in through the snorkel ? Any suggestions welcome Jason
  13. The cage on the "Tombraider" is all for show, there are no extensions legs to the chassis I was told that Safety Devices had built these cages for LR, but when I checked I was told they were manufactured by LR themselves I know this because I was trying to find where i could purchase the extensions to the chassis
  14. The Snorkel is made by Mantech and has the mushroom top
  15. I have just fitted a snorkel to my TD5 and have been suprised at the results Not that top speed is something I am interested in but it will easily sit at 140kph compared to about 130 previously Can someone explain why this is ? Am I right in thinking its got something to do with getting cooler air into the engine ? Jason
  16. After a long weekend in the sand finally managed to narrow down where the noise is coming from. Its coming from right at the fromt of the engine bay Its got to be something to do with the fan pulleys I think, or bearing in the fan or ????????? Once I finally manage to get it sorted I will let you know
  17. Its all cos they want the newest toy First was the X5, then the Cayenne and now the RR sport Don't buy one of the above in the UAE,its had a hard life Saw I young local guy doing laps round a local car park in his brand new RR Sport, this is nothing out of the ordinary As for the Defender they just don't appreciate an iconic truck, thay love their jap *rap if they can't afford the above
  18. The Theme for the article was getting out and about in the desert in the UAE It took well over an hour to get it off this slope, as you can see the sand was like powder If 2 of us had not been hanging off the side I am sure it would have rolled, that would not have been a good day out. It certainly cleared my hang over though Luckily summer is over and is was only about 30 degrees
  19. Steve Appreciate the comments, nothing is stupid Noise is under hard acceleration, its not related to speed because if I don't accelate hard then its fine Ill check what you have said Cheers
  20. Tried all the above and its still making the noise LR dealer is at a loss, so its back to the drawing board, they cant decide what they what to change next 101 differant people have now driven it and the consensus is that the noise is coming from underneath, between where the cubby box sits and the bulkhead is As its under warranty, I am going to get them to replace everything until it stops Anyone got any ideas please ? Its driving me crazy You certainly hear me coming along time before you see me Jason
  21. Take a look at the following pics, my truck will be featured in a local magazine here in Dubai, an article about off road driving, but not vehicle specific What should have been a simle drive to take some pics resulted in my truck nearly rolling over It probably didn't help I had the hang over from hell and the decision making process was some what delayed http://photobucket.com/albums/d70/jaok/Photo%20Shoot/] Hopefully you can use the link to access the pics
  22. Just an update for those of you who are interested Took the vehicle back to the main dealer and after a heated debate they looked at it again They decided the noise was coming from the front diff and they will replace it under warranty, after getting approval from LR They showed me the oil from the diff and it had very fine particals of metal, almost like powder. What would cause this on such a newsish vehicle ? Jason
  23. Thats one thing I have not tried, will try it later and let you know Cheers
  24. Jim Thats the 1st thing i looked at when it started to make the noise, I couldn't find anything wrong. I also asked the dealer to double check this, but thanks for the advice anyway
