At least it's nice to see that the 'team' are easier on the eye these days....

Jangling the keys in my hand with lorries rushing past in the pouring rain I had an Einstein moment!! My keyring happens to be one of X-Eng’s finest and hence has...
....a bottle opener. So I cracked open a cold one while I waited for the big yellow taxi

Have those QT seat in my mates racer thay are very comfy and supportive, much more comfy than they look. Mind you that is strapped in tight, not sure how comfy they'd be if you're bouncing around in a standard seatbelt. The sides mean they are not the easiest to get in or out of in a lifted challenge truck - but there should be no need for the driver to get out or the co-driver to get in

I have a one of these battery chargers for keeping my two liesure batteries topped up. It's an inteliigent multi stage charger and can be left connected without damage to batteries. You should be able to find one for less than £80. Or depending on what your charging requirements are, you may get away with a smaller charger, the 3600 or maybe even the 800, if it's just to keep the batteries toppped up during periods when not being used.

Jules I'd agree that for racing an LSD (or torque biasing diff) is the way to go.
I had a Detroit locker in my old 90 and it was ok as a poor mans alternative to an ARB, ok for general off roading or challenges but not what I'd want throwing the truck round at speed.

Absolutely. But if the Q-plate pre dates the SVA test then who's to say what mods where present when the Q-plate was issued (or even what vehicle is was issued to )
The more restrictive the powers that be get (ssems to be mainly EU regulations that are screwing us over re motoring issues these days) the more people will try and circumvent officialdom. Just like the latest changes to VED bands, pre 2001 log books will become almost as sought after as pre 1973 ones, the amounts to be saved will be much greater than they are currently giving even great incentive to ring motors. It will happen.

Do you know if the requirement for ABS requires it to be a fangled electronic ABS or if it can be the simple type that used to be fitted to bikes that is essentially a pressure accumulator in the brake lines which smoothes out rapid pressure fluctuations to make the braking more progressive?
I think the ABS will need to be 'approved' for the vehicle in question. Whether RRC ABS is 'approved' for a RRC based hybrid will be an interesting question. There will be a gap in the market for an ABS kit approved for use on amateur built vehicles, X-ABS??
I wondered re the 2025 SVA if one solution would be to buy a small commercial - bedford rascall size (assuming such a thing exists then) which carries the components of a 4x4 which you deploy with hydraulics to raise the bedford wheels off the ground. On the road, it is a bedford with a slightly unusual load. Off the road it is also slightly unusual by todays standards - but might be a useful way round the regs?No matter what the goverment do to make this kind of thing difficult, there will always be a way round for the devious.
Interesting solution to the problem. However I think in the future there will be more of a move towards non road registered/legal vehicles. Rather like comp safafri and open/modified trials. I think the winch challenge scene is unusual in that the majority of events require a road legal registered vehicle, Neil's AWDC series being the (main) exception to that rule.
As for Q plates, my mates racer is listed on the V5 as 4x4 light utility made from parts, now if that isn't a license to build what you want I don't know what is

hybrid is going to be amateur built
Very
But who knows what the SVA regs will be like in 2025

XT660R I think. I keep looking wistfully at the new Transalp but 0% finance, rave reviews and a smaller price tag all point to the XT.
Nice bike, be better off road than the Transalp.
Give it a few weeks and I'll be up for a run out on the plain

So what you getting then Chris?

is there much bluetooth 2 stuff out yet?
There are some about (there are Bluetooth 2.0 GPS recievers on eblag) and more coming out all the time I guess as most new stuff will be Bluetooth 2.0/2.1
What I'm not sure about is if all 3 (or more) devices need to be BT2.0 or just the multi paired one, not had a BT2.0 device to play with....
So will a BT2.0 GPS connect to say BT1.0 PDA and BT1.1 phone simult at the same time? Or does the BT2.0 device work in say BT1.0 mode to talk to a BT1.0 device and therefore can only support one connection as it's in BT1.0 mode?

Nice B)

I don't belive Bluetooth 1.1 can ever pair to more than one device. wish it could.
You can have more than one 'inactive' pairing (although not all devices support this), but for multiple 'active' pairings you would need a bluetooth 2.0 device.

Nige, you have such a away with words. Couldn't have put it better myself
Speaking to people it seems many share the same views. Sodders was THE event, now there are many diluted events, so which do you attend? For many selling and buying the answer seems to be none.

I guess in perfomance terms it must be a step up from STUD 100

A little tip to do to make this job a bit easier: Cut the top of the brake hose bracket so instead of a round hole it is a kind key hole shaped. Not the best photo, but it's all I have....
Then you don't have to undo the swivel pin bolts and all that entails.
Obviously you need to undo the brake pipe to do this mod so something to think about doing when next working on the front brakes.

Wish you'd posted it ages ago before I had to do the job at the side of the road in wales on a laning trip.

You should try searching on here - there was a chap (I forget his name) who ran a P38 in winch challenges etc., was at the first Slindon one with DarthDicky.
SteveG.
He has a 90 now though, whatever that says.

Saw it on TV earlier, apparently I'm "sad" for knowing it was an LSE

Nige/HFH has been doing some research into custom exhausts, there is a thread in the international forum that must cover most of the custom exhaust builders in the country.

There is an outer weather proof melamine shell so does not need any painting.
Probably still worth sealing round the edges with some decent varnish, that will help prevent it delaminating.

Quick delivery
That's a very comprehensive size comparison showing both metric and imperial. Even Walfy can't complain about that!
-
From link above....
85 x 64 x 125 mmSo it's about 5" tall. Surely you have somthing about 5" you can compare it to
-
Walfy, those blue and yellow things you can see under the cover at the top are blade fuses so that should give you some idea of the size

I'm now licensed to be a menace on two wheels as well as four
Couldn't quite manage a clear round but only notched up a score of 3.
Now I just need to get the new set of wheels muddy...
Right I'm off to the trail bike forums now (There's no need to cheer Les )
