  1. I would imagine that they would very similar if not the same. Looking at the description i dont see any mention of the piggy back water pump but im going to have a go...Could be that darned " O " ring thats causing the grief...Thanksd guys...
  2. ... I believe that the repair kits are grand for the pumps up to and inc the 300 tdi but that the Td5 is a sealed unit (tho mine isnt cos its dripping on the drive at the mo) it has only started to leak in the past week, the frothing could be down to the pump drawing in air at the seepage point and it groans right accross the steering arc (01 Def), but i still need the "how to remove/refit instructions...
  3. Right looks like new pump required, problem is ive searched the Rave CD and cant find the step by step removal and refitting. I can see where it mates onto the water pump but there isnt a section for the PAS on the CD..Anyone got this or a link to same..Ta Mike
  4. Thanks lads ...guess its soon to be a new pump so...!
  5. Is there a repair kit for the steering pump on the Td5..Getting a groaning noise when steering especially when stationary, slight dripping from underside of pump and upon checking the resevoir a frothing/bubbling to the steering fluid...Or should i just dump and replace..? Mike
  6. Guys im debating whether to convert a '97 V8/LPG auto into a diesel drinker..Its a very clean example but is this do-able or worthwhile and can the existing auto box be mated with a 300/200 tdi.......Any links.....Thkx Mike
  7. ....Scary to see the power in the backfire. It was the same on mine tho the K&N air filter is intact , the blow back valve has sealed itself shut ...twice and still managed to destroy the rubber ring and the bonnet lining...But your right about the HT leads ..and the distrib cap and correct plugs...Anything that causes the timing to sneez will throw out the gas.....
  8. Thanks lads have part winging its way to me much oblidged....Pic of the offending part(under the gaffer tape)
  9. Guys any idea where i would get the diaphram (looks like an orange wide rubber band) that goes around the air flow meter on my gas/petrol V8 air intake system....Engine is backfiring at random causing this band to blow off and confuse the ECU thus causing a stall and a stubborn restart. Band has now snapped and can't locate one this side of the pond..I dont have access to the vehicle at the mo so dont know gas system but i believe its not the "Landerini or the Tartarini(apologies for the spelling) systems.. Ta ta in advance..Mike
  10. Hi guys, any kind soul out there living in or near Peterborough Cambridgeshire (about 10 mins from Peterborough train station) would like to give a '95 Discovery ES with lots of miles done, the once over for me..Has busted header tank but owner says head gaskets good. Possible bunged up radiator causing the header tank problem..Possible rust in the usual places..Save me a lot of hassle to know before heading over whether its a dog....Thanks in advance. Owners contact details available by PM..Mike
  11. Hi Grommit...and welcome back to CLRI....
  12. Thanks BM i'l get that done..Makes sense as you have stated it cud be any number of things wrong. Always knew we were being ripped off over here when it comes to genuine parts....B&%t£ds...
  13. Its a 2001 and yes your right i did have trouble with the injector loom, as discussed on this forum ealier in the year. The solution at the time was 1. Replace the loom with a newer type that was "supposed" to prevent oil leaking into the loom, and due to the replies from members this method didnt work that well either or 2. Seal up the injector loom harness as it exits the rocker cover.. opted for method 2 as the initial trial as opposed to handing Irish Landrover dealers €256 & Vat, only to have the problem re-occur....So what to do...eh. Bite the bullet and fork out and take a chance or has anybody discovered another remedy...Heres hoping...Mike
  14. Hi guys, engine management light ? first one on the left(in a Td5) glows orange upon start up then goes out...Well with a mind of its own decides to come on and engine dies, miss fires but mostly re-fires in transit(very embarrassing and highly dangerous at 60 mph) and occasionally stopping or stopped at traffic lights..Upon investigation and enquiries this problem was initially solved by renewing the yellow relay (the one on the left beside the main fuse board under the drivers seat) as this one could be heard clicking in and out at the same time the engine dies....I say initially solved cos its doing it again now and with alarming regularity....Anyone experiance the likes of this before and/or any solutions..Thanks Mike
  15. Running fine thank god ( touch wood)....
  16. Shame eh, but look at the bright side....440 miles towing a Passat....at wot ? 15 miles to the gallon....thats bout thirty gallons of bubbly....Yikes.. be cheaper to post the hybrid...Now theres an idea..some kindly truck driver heading North.... Mike
  17. Or tow the Passat with the hybrid....Much more asthetically pleasing....
  18. Uk Landrover Dealers......£65+ uncle sam's wedge.............Eire Landrover Dealers €96 + uncle sam's wedge (bout the same).... The unmentionable auction site....£8.45 inc P+P and no wedge to uncle sam....Come on Mr Postman........Now what to spend the rest of the lolly on that i told herself it would cost ! Mmmmmm
  19. Yeh thats the shagger Jas, now if i knew somebody with very small fingers, a copper brazing rod and the patience of a saint...Me tinks Ralph is right, replace and save my hair for another problem ! ....Mike
  20. Tell me about it, and over here the suppliers think that they can charge more cos there is less of them (the suppiers that is)....Frustrating thing is the switch is just a series of copper stud contacts...no electronics or circuit boards ...very simple....Mmmmmmm. .....Mike
  21. Thanks Ralph, it will have ti be a LR part...Lucas dropped outta here a while back...Ta ! Mike
  22. Ok...had the switch out just three wires and five (or was it six) little copper contacts and three positions to select...Mechanically it seems fine is making contact and is not loose within the housing. Gave it a squirt of contact cleaning fluid but same result........Swopped the relays around(RM6D) to no avail....but i have discovered when i select position one...normal lights...as i slowly ease the lever forward i get the desired result but as the switch clicks home to second position ....blackout...dash/tail/parking the lot...Head scratching stuff lads what next ?......Mike
  23. Thanks Ralph yet again to the rescue...Serves us right, the Dept of Transport came up with not so new idea of incouraging Irish motorists to drive with lights on at all times...They never enforced it but I got into the habit (and probably a good one) of having lights on at all times so there ya go !!! .Mike
  24. Ok heres a new one, for me anyway....Ya just get one thing fixed (ignition relay had mind of its own) and.....Headlight switch Td5 90 (2001). Stage one ...side lights and main headlights on low..works fine ! Stage two ..side lights and main headlights on low beam...Well this evening, stage two has gone from what it should be... to no lights out front at all and the dash lights go out just to add injury to insult !!! Any clues guys .....Mike
  25. Just finished fitting paras 3 leaf on the rear 2 on the front to my 88" , using the 109" shackles and a set of ES 3000 pro-comp(as advised by the members a couple weeks back), Im running on 235/85/16 Ironman Muds and have gained 3" of clearance over the standard set up. Advantage of the pro comp is that you dont have to make a plate for the shock, it fits straight on to the original bottom mount. Much more flexible off road and that little bit comfier on road... Good Luck !
