Is there supposed to be a thin locknut on the stoplight switch. I just changed my switch and all works well until I tighten the locknut, then no brake lights 'till I slacken it.
Cheers
Geoff
I'd suspect that it had jumped a splin, but on the return stroke it hits the seal at the bottom of the windscreen. It's solid, and doesn't flop about.

One of our, (SGRC), forum members, Lenny, is hosting an Autojumble/Off Roading event in Helensburgh on 3rd December. Sounds like it could be a good day out.

Thanks, Sean. You seem to have exactly the same symptoms as I have. Must be time to strip the door card off. There's motors on ebay for not too much.
Geoff
When I wind the driver's window up, it reaches the top and doesn't cut out. It just clunks till I release the button. Also, I get a message when I switch the ignition on saying RHF WINDOW NOT SET. Is this an ECU fault, or do I need a new motor for the door?

Most of the Landowners are willing to allow us to drive their lanes. Sometimes it's not convenient, ie. lambing season or shooting parties out on the hills.
They don't charge us.
Geoff
Interior lights now working. I held the button wth "INT. LIGHTS ON" and opened and closed the door. Hey presto the lights now come on when I open the doors.
Many thanks to Escape and q-rover for your knowledge and time. I would NEVER have sussed that one out.
Cheers Again
Geoff
There are lots of lanes in Scotland, but as Retroanaconda says, they're on private land. The law in Scotland regarding driving these routes is different from in England/Wales. We, in the Scottish Green Road Club always ask the land owners before heading out. Most of our runs are behind locked gates, so we get to see places where others don't.
Geoff
Thanks for that. I did have water dripping in through the light fitting a couple of weeks ago, but I assumed it wasn't the fault as the light is still working on the switch. I'll have a look inside.
Cheers

My P38, 1995 4.0 SE, has an annoying fault now that the dark mornings are here. The interior light does not come on when either front door is opened. The light works manually from the button. The dashboard indicates that the doors are opened when I open them. The puddle lights don't come on either.
Any ideas?
Geoff
We had a nice easy run on Sunday with superb scenery. Welcome to the lads from England who joined us for part of the day. Very nice motors. There's lots of photos on the website.
The next SGRC run will be on 20th November. Venue to be finalised and details will be on the website. This run was originally planned for the 6th November, but it was felt it was a bit close to the run on 16th October. Out of respect for our fallen Heroes, the SGRC will not plan a run for 13th November, Remembrance Day.
Hence 20th Nov.
Geoff
Our next run should be in October. It's just a matter of arranging it with the land owner. Meanwhile please have a look at our new website:

Hope to meet you soon, Mav
Geoff
Perhaps not 2mph, (we often stop to take photos), but there again, if we went too fast, we'd miss most of the scenery, upset the ramblers and arrive home by lunchtime with an afternoon still to kill.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Geoff
The run on the 11th September will be from Butterbridge, then through locked gates into Glen Kinglass. Details on the SGRC website:
