  1. Cheers fro your reply Simon, I think I have been a bit unclear, for with switched I meant through ignition. Is the light necessary, or can I connect it to + anyway. Althought I have the wiring scheme for my engine, the 2 thin wires from the alternator go into 'black boxes', so I don't know which is which. Therefore, would it hurt to mix them up? Kind regards, Maarten
  2. I have got a Nissan 6 cyl in my IIB, and the 24v alternator on it has 4 wires. Two are 'feed' to the batteries, the other ones go to electronical control boxes who control the fuel pump. However, I have decided not to use these boxes but use cable to operate the stop and start function of the pump. Now, I need to wire up the alternator. I presume one wire is for the sense wire, and another would go to the ignition light, if it was a petrol. Can I put either one on a switched postive, in order to give the alternator the signal to start charging? Kind regards, Maarten
  3. My IIB, outside for the first time in months. Hopefully will get it registrered in 2 months, it's been in a field in Portugal for more than ten years. Maarten
  4. I have to confess that I have bought the bar grips... 135 euro for a set of 5.. And a friend is fitting them with new tubes.. I couldn't justify the extra expense for the michelin's, not just yet. I've just started working, need a custom propshaft and a full camper interior as well. Thanks for the replies Maarten
  5. Morning all, I think I'm in a classical dilemma: Do I spend a lot of money on a very good product, or do I botch it? Tyres for my IIB: 5 XZL's 2nd hand, new tubes and fitted for 950 euros. 2nd Bar Grips, not fitted, for a lot less, don't know how much. Then I have to find a tyre fitter who wants to fit them, meaning I have to store the tyres for a while, and I don't really have the space. My IIB has a Nissan diesel engine and 'box, so is capable of doing more than 60 km/h.. Sooo, what do you think? Bite the bullet on the XZL's? Regards, Maarten
  6. Agree, use the dishwasher. Tried it, works a treat. I won't tell
