  1. Mine is just over £600 as I lost my ncb after sliding through a garden wall and gate post in my 90 during the last snow fall! Before that it was £400 with no no-claims bonus. All mods listed too and its Adrian Flux, when making my claim the service was excellent and the staff were very helpful!!!
  2. This was the rough outline design for a 90 using a hi cap rear bulkhead, the parts shown in dark grey represent old trailer parts. I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible even using the old hand operated hydraulic pump for the time being.
  3. Disco al, yea that's the plan, although some what shortened. My solid works drawing is taking ages so I've been playing in google sketchup based on a 90 chassis at the moment though as that was the original plan. Any specific literature I should study? Thanks again Max
  4. Dear all I've been on the DVLA website and searched but I've as yet not found anything to comfort myself. I have a completely standard discovery 1 300tdi auto. My question, the vehicle has both a monocoque body and ladder frame chassis and I would like to remove the rear half of the cab and create a bulkhead behind the front seats whilst utilising the existing crossmembers and original body mounts to then facilitate the fitment of a (very) small tipping rear body(from a tipping ifor williams. The vehicle will stay complete (apart from obvious trimmings of seats etc) i.e. same engine, gearbox, axles thus on the points system staying the same vehicle. I have seen somewhere an Australian discovery 2 UTE which had a similar thing done but have been unable to find it again! (sorry) I know an awful lot of people just do as they please with trays etc but I would like to know if this is just as simple as a form filling or do I need a vehicle assessment. I know many of you on here will know the answer so please be my first point of call and please point me in the direction of existing links that you know of! I have lots of engineering experience and have access to a coded welder for use in critical areas, I'm currently drawing in cad a design to fit the existing chassis mounts to avoid unnecessary cutting of existing structural points Thanks again in advance
  5. Thanks for all the responses. I have a bolt on seatbelt / 'roll bar' from a military 90 so that will get put to use at last, Thanks again and Ill get some photos up when the sun shines and the mot man has been bribed!
  6. 90mph thatll be the day. I would never drive quickly and will be wearing shades with windscrren down, more for the sake of it and because I can. But legally where would i stand?
  7. Hi all when the sun comes out this summer I want to take the hardtop (90 csw) off my landy and drive around with the doors tops off and possibly windscrren flat. I have a internal roll cage but where does this stand me if I were to be pulled over do I need to inform the DVLA everytime I take the roof off. Since its not a big job I will have it on and off lots over the summer but dont want to be charged with having an unsafe vehicle. any advice?
  8. Excellent thank you very much, great advice as always gents.
  9. Hi all I recently started fitting a 1500w inverter into my 90. This may sound a silly question to some but once operational what would happen if the 240v tool etc went wrong and needed to earth? Could it end up making a faraday cage out of my metal bodywork as there is no direct route to ground earth? I intend to use an rcd in anycase with the thought that this will kill the circuit if an earth leakage is found? Also when switching a power feed to the inverter can it be wired through a relay in the normal way,? This is because it will be a permenant fixture with a water proof socket box near the rear door and I dont want it live all the time. Ill get pictures up of the install when its finished if anybody is interested. Thank you in advance
  10. Have a look on foleys site Im sure i have seen one on their gallery just like this.
  11. The vacuum comes from the pump which also provides for your brake servo unit, i blanked off this hole as close to the vacuum pump as possible(so as not to effect the brakes) , When i did the same over a year ago, i disconnected the solenoid from the wriing loom but left the wires, all other parts related to the egr were just removed and the holes blanked with heavy tape wrapped over a plug in the end.
  12. Awesome thank you guys, What pressure were you holding? did you stop at 100psi like some existing products or 135psi similar to a workshop compressor. As i dont run lockers etc yet there will be no air in the tanks whilst im driving. plus ill be using 4mm wall thickness steel. Thank you all for your input
  13. Hi everyone im converting my ac pump into an air compressor as mentioned previously, but now I will be needing an air tank, as with the limited space and after seeing what the americans had done at east coast rover would a rock slider that couple as an air tank be a safe option regarding the nature of a rock slider ie getting a good beating. obviously the fittings and pressure relief valves would need to be ridden and covered. What are your feelings on this? Be kind its my first topic post! see the link below Rock slider air tank,
