  1. Thanks for all the helpful replies.

Any chance anyone can offer the same information relating to a Discovery 1 with a 2 inch lift?

I'm happy to trim the arches at each end but I'd prefer to avoid having to cut them so much that a set of arches is required.

    Jeremy

I have 265/75/16 with 2" lift and "camel cut" rear arches. That's it.

  2. I have ,sorry the wife has 265/75/16 on standard disco alloys with no lift ,can make a bit of noise when loaded up but not too bad but you cant get a fag paper between the tyres and the arches

hope she don't see this she will be wanting a lift next :o

I bet she'll be wanting the new arches next:) After arches kiss rubber several times:)

  3. Thanks for the replies. That's just what I thought.

Do you have wiring info how to install it? Never done this before, I'm thinking of how to reuse a stock temerature sensor. What do I need more besides fan itself? Some device should switch it on and off I bet:)

  4. I'm thinking about geting rid of stock mechanical fan which is driven by the belt (got really tired of it's noise). And want to put electrical fan. Maybe I can use the fans from conditioner which are in front of radiator? Does anybody have experiense in this?

  5. Discovery 2.5TD, Manual gearbox.

After gearbox rebuild the selectors where changed and everything that had to. After a test drive strange thign appeared: it goes OK to swotch from 1 to 2, 2-3, 4-5, then back 5-4, 4-3.

But 3-2 is done with a terrible sound. Actualy it's not done, I can't switch to the 2nd gear as to the 1st gear also. But can do this whikle standing.

Any ideas what can be wrong?

  6. There are several videos of them in mud on you tube.

As to your comment about what's the point; why does there have to be one?

I've done things for the hell of it before and i say good on him.

Did not really want to start a battle here around this, I beg a pardon. If you have direct links for videos you've mentioned please post them. 'Cause i've seen only one with a big log (tree). I'm thinking about reliability of that thing and not really sure that it will do the finish on Ladoga for example.

  7. Will they fit my td5 with 30mm spacers ok then without rubbing? Bigger the better!!!

Somebody had played a bad joke with you. YOU DON'T NEED SPACERS TO FIT TYRE SIZES UP TO 265 IN WIDTH. As "africanpete" said, don't fool yourself and go with 2" lift if you want something significant bigger. Otherwise just go with 245/75/16 as you've been told without any spacers.

    Cheers mate!

  8. I do not really understand the point of getting spacers without a lift. I have 2" lift and 265/75/16 tires, in my case spacers would help me to install 285/75/16 cause they will rub springs and radius arms. But in your case.... I don't even know. This will make some sense if you'd like to have something wide but not tall, like 285/60/16, 285/55/16. And even in this case I bet that you'd like to have a proper 8" rim instead of spacers.

  9. My car is a big toy for me right now. I've bought an oscillo to measure some things and this will probably help me in studying the engine work.

I agree now that o2 sensors are not my case. But let me explain why I began to think of them. When I've seen the injection timing the 1,2,3,4 injectors where 2.7-2.8ms and 5,6,7,8 where 2.4-2.5ms. The injectors themselves I've cleaned allready, no change. The same story running on LPG. So I'm still in search for answer why ECU gives more time for left set of cylinders and less time for right. The first idea was: it's because o2 sensors work differently and one of them might give infromation about lean exhaust and computer wants to make it reach. I was wrong.

  10. With a high voltage sensor I want to recon myself that everything is allright with wires, sparcs, distributor, coil.

MegaSquirt......, never heard of it before, will think of it for the future, but not now. Very seducing thing, probably will need to get divorced with my wife to install MS:)

And BTW, here is the waveform I've got today from two o2 sensors. Green is right sensor (which I had measured before) and pink is left (which I did not!). And as far as I understand it does not work properly! After thinking a bit I had cutted the black wire on "not working sensor" and hardwired it with a black wire of "working sensor" (you'll say it's stupid but I did it, let's say for experiment), to make ECU read signal from working sensor. So I supposed to get 1 working sensor instead of 2. Nothing particulary happened, I did not notice the difference in engine work.

Have to dig further. I think even if the o2 sensors are dead my main problem is not in them.

  11. ....STOP WORRYING...

Thank you for giving some light on my doubts, 'cause I've been completely confused. I'm currently thinking of buying two additional sensors for my oscillo: pressure (to test intake pressure) and high-voltage (to test ignition problems).
