Dies when I use indicators??

Freelander1 absolutely perfect until I use either left or right indicator then completely dies, it also won’t start if indicator is already on, it feels like maybe a immobiliser problem, it’s a W reg (old) not even sure it would have one, any help is more than welcome.

After you check all the earths (remove, wire brush and then apply electrical grease. Don’t fall into the trap of giving them a wiggle and think it’s ok) then the next port of call is the spiral cable behind the steering wheel they do give trouble. Are the horn, interior light working? If not try the body ecu which is clipped into the rear of the fuse board it’s easy to replace. But my money is on earths and the spiral cable. Good luck 👍🍀

It’s 1998cc diesel, apparently bmw engine, seen 3 mechanics now & all have said immobiliser, 4 ways work perfect, it’s just the indicators, when you say the earth, is that the one from the battery, sorry to sound daft, but really unsure, but appreciate your replies.

There's numerous earths - stuff usually earths through the body and then the battery -ve cable is also bolted to the body. Things like the engine have an earth strap to join it to the body. On the freelander there are little 8-way blocks of terminals bolted to the body with all black wires leading into them, those are earth points for various things.

It's all in the RAVE manuals - electrical diagrams will show everything to do with the immobiliser and the electrical library will have a photo and location of every single connector in the car, each with its own code.
