Steve King
I have a 2002 Defender TD5. The light on the dash no longer lights up. It doesn’t bother me, but I think this now an MOT fail. I’d rather get the parts before taking the dash apart. Is the bulb one of those little capless ones?
Retroanaconda
If you mean the sidelights warning lamp on the panel below the gauges then it’s not a bulb, but a surface-mounted LED on a circuit board.

Steve King
Yikes! I’ve just seen the price of a new one! £300 or thereabouts!! If it is the LED that has failed, then I’ll see if the local computer repair guy can fix it. He is fully qualified and carries out surface mount repairs. Retroanaconda
Probably more likely a wiring issue in the car than a failure on the board, though of course the latter is not impossible. Definitely worth checking the thing is being fed 12V in the right hole before splashing out on a repair/replacement.

Actually, I had an issue with one of the indicator warning lights some years back that was fixed by removing and replacing the multipin connector to the panel. Hopefully this is something similar.
