Pilgrim
Hello gents, I'm lurking through forums and did not understand how to tell what plate number a car is, and where is written (if it is). And also, what is the use? I have a 2002 Td4 manual, made for Germany. What plate would it be? Thank you and bear a noob. Stefan
ThreePointFive
Welcome to the forum. When you say plate, what exactly are you looking for? We refer to cars as a "59 plate" (for example) as a reference to the British number plate system to show the age of the vehicle. Yours would be either an 02 or a 52 plate depending on when in the year it was made. I'm not sure this is what you mean. If you mean the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) then I believe you will find that under the windscreen/scuttle panel as on most cars. I'm not sure if either of these are really what you're after. Pilgrim
Thank you 3.5. It was the British system, regarding the date of mfg. I understand now, but when somebody mentions his car's "plate", it is not so easy for a foreigner to guess the year. Is there a corespondence between plate and year? Have a perfect day!
