Gavin Muir
Morning all! I have a '96 3.9V8 Discovery auto which has had head gaskets done. Was going perfectly before head gasket went. First overfuelled put in new ECU still overfuelled. Checked all sensors. Idles and revs up beautifully when in neutral less smoking. However, when engaging gear will not go. Like no vacuum advance and no vacuum assist on brakes. Please help! Best regards Gavin
Bowie69
Sounds like you have a massive vacuum leak, is everything bolted down right, and all hoses connected?
FridgeFreezer
4 hours ago, Gavin Muir said: put in new ECU still overfuelled Why on earth would you swap an ECU as your first action? Fault finding these systems is pretty easy - IIRC all the sensor resistance values are even in the manual... but as Bowie says I'd be looking for what's been messed up or damaged by the gasket job. Outside of that, overfuelling would be mostly driven by the coolant temperature sensor or the airflow meter reading wrong.
