Brasco
Is it normal to hear a hissing sound ( like air being forced out) from under neat the dash every time you press the brake pedal... or there is something wrong ??
Les Henson
No it's not. Open the bonnet and get someone to press the pedal while you try to locate the hissing. It could be the servo unit itself, the connecting pipe between it and the pump, or the pump itself. When you press the pedal there is quite often a 'squishing' noise, which is just the result of the pedal being used. Les.
breezecloe
Hi We have exactly the same problem with our 300tdi, a loud hissing noise when you apply the brake. Has anyone got the answer to whether it's the servo, pipe or pump please? Or does anyone know the best way to find out which ones faulty? Aprreciate any help! BogMonster
probably the servo leaking internally if it only happens when you press the pedal down
Les Henson
If the system is working ok, you should have vaccuum in the servo even after a few hours of the engine being turned off. Wait an hour os so and then take the pipe out of the servo. If there is no hiss, then the diaphragm has a leak. Les.
